GenCon Day Four
Tweet
Day Four was by far the shortest day. Not only because it’s the shortest day for the Exhibition Hall to be open, but mostly because I only signed up for one event.
Ten am was far too early for a game Sunday morning (I’ve learned my lesson) but I sucked it up to make a Warhammer Fantasy Role-Playing session called, “Rough Justice”. “Rough Justice” was a pre-fab adventure to preview the new Warhammer Fantasy book supplement, Realm of the Ice Queen. Unfortunately for the GM running the game only three of us showed up to play, I’m guessing because it was Sunday morning. The GM was nice enough and well enough prepared for the adventure, but the game suffered due to the very hurried plot with only three players. The game ran a little short, coming in at two and a half hours, with a break.
Afterwards, I headed back out to the Exhibition Hall to round up those final purchases. I debated standing in line to get Hayden Panettiere’s autograph at the Bella Sera booth. But, and hour or so before her appearance, the line was already wrapping around a back room, and it looked altogether ominous. I did buy some of the Bella Sera cards for a cousin-in-law who still loves horses.
I also managed to demo a game by PlayRoom (the makers of Killer Bunnies) called Unspeakable Words. It’s a card game where you build up points by spelling words. Each card is a letter with a point value. You try to build words without losing sanity (small Cthulhu sanity tokens) and work your way to 100 points to win. Super fun!
I spent my last evening back at the hotel playing a bit of PoxNora to get a feel for the game. When The Continuum beta releases in a few weeks, I have a feeling it’s going to give PoxNora a run for its money. But as my husband will attest to, I enjoyed PoxNora enough to spend most of the night playing.
After a long drive today, I’m finally back in KC. GenCon was a crazy trip, but one that was thoroughly worth every sore foot and aching muscle. I hope I get to go back again next year.
Keep an eye out the next few days and weeks for write-ups from my interviews and game demos. And if you have any questions about GenCon, ask away!
