Are you hardcore or are you casual?

Maybe you aren’t either. Maybe you’re mid-casual, mid-core, or hard-casual? I don’t think it’s important to label yourself. As they say “Label jars; not people.” But really with the advent of the Wii and the DS are the terms relevant to today’s gamers? Do most console gamers also play games on their mobile phone or play Spider Solitaire? The answer is probably yes. So does that make them hardcore or does that make them casual? Maybe the standard needs to be changed. I always thought that there should be a mid-core standard. Or maybe there just needs to be a new and broader definition of the terms. Where’d I get this idea? Well here of course!

Are you addicted to the Internet or Gaming?

Dr. Jerald Block has written an editorial where he states why he believes that Internet Addiction should be added to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V). Dr. Block is not new to this issue though, he owns a patent on technology that can be used to restrict computer access. Most of us can be on the net or gaming a fair amount of the day. Just look at sites like Youtube, iJustin, and Twitter (tons of others) that are predicated on people just surfing and hanging out on their computer. There are times when I know I should be doing something else, yet I’m exploring the Internet. I go through all my bookmarked links, then I visit new links, new recommendations, next thing I know four hours have passed and it’s time for bed. My television watching is now in the background of my Internet surfing. If

Paying for Downloadable Content: Who’s to blame?

With the rise of Downloadable content, the question of paying for it has become a debate between gamers. When do we feel that it’s acceptable to pay for this content? When is it a waste of money? And lastly, who is to blame, should we be blaming the developers, or should we be blaming ourselves for the trend of Mircotransactions? All this questioning comes in the wake of the announcement of the paying for downloadable content for the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King for WiiWare. I’ve been looking in the forums and comment sections to a number of major gaming websites to find that a number of voices are calling for stand against the game and its pay to play concept, a will not buy camp.. They believe that it’s not fair for Square to have gamers pay for the other 3 races, or other game

Take Two Interactive rejects EA’s offer

Well Take-Two’s Software Board believes that $26 a share is too low for what they have. The company will be having a webcast today at 2:40pm est, which I hope to make. The board also recommends that stockholders do not sell their shares to EA. The unanimous decision today was to deny EA’s buyout offer. “With one of the strongest portfolios of intellectual property in our business, a superb creative and business team, and a revitalization plan that is beginning to deliver results, Take-Two is uniquely positioned to create stockholder value in an industry that is enjoying the highest growth rates of any entertainment medium. We are effectively working toward a process to review all available options to maximize this value, either as an independent company or in combination with a third party, and are open to beginning informal discussions starting now. Our stockholders’ interests would hardly be served by

    Why is Twitter so addicting?

Hi, my name is Trina. I am an addict, a twitter addict. I can’t stop checking it. Lately, I leave my Twitter page open all day. At any point, I refresh and 15 new messages will show up. Do I really need to know what everyone is doing all day? No. Is it incredibly interesting? Yes! For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, Twitter is a website where people basically leave im’s about what they are doing. You can follow other users and be followed. To do a better job with the explanation, here is a video from the folks over at CommonCraft to explain Twitter in plain English: Tech blogger, Robert Scoble tackled the Twitter question today. Basically what is it that makes Twitter so addictive? According to him the secret is in following people and becoming a better listener. “So, that’s my
