Unknown Anime of the Week
Tweet
I decided why not? I’d do a weekly survey of the not Narutos and Bleaches of the bunch. Truly good anime but when I converse about it in Anime club they all say “What?” The overlooked anime that is quite good and deserves a second look. I shall be going over these series (granted that they are licensed) and why it’s a must see. So let’s get started: This week’s anime is Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai- This Ugly Yet Beautiful World

Name of series: This Ugly Yet Beautiful World
Licensed by: ADV Studios
Broadcast on: Anime Network VOD
Genres: action, comedy, drama, romance, science fiction
Age rating: Teen (has some nudity and fantasy violence)
Number of episodes: 12
Plot summary by anime news network: High school student Takeru Takemoto works part time as a (motor)bike courier. During one of his deliveries, he saw a mysterious light passing him and fell into a forest. What he had found was a beautiful girl coming out from a glowing cocoon, calling herself “Hikari.” While Takeru was quite embarrassed because of Hikari’s nudity, a strange monster suddenly showed up and immediately attacked the two. Both Takeru and Hikari demonstrated the power of their other selves before Takeru had a
clue of what’s going on.
Why I think it deserves a watch?: This anime has everything from action to romance to just plain nonsense. The plot is deep and it will keep you watching it all the way through. You learn everything that happens from why the monsters are there to why the girls (Hikari and Akari) appeared in the first place. The show is science fiction only in the fact that there is monsters and space involved. Other than that it is a simple love story where Takeru will follow Hikari to the ends of the Earth because he has found his one true love. This anime is an absolute must-watch for those who like action, romance and a deep story line that will keep you guessing to the end.
