Dead Space First Look

By: GamingAngel

I am about a third of the way through Dead Space. Why only a third? When I play Dead Space, I feel like my heart is going to burst through my chest and that’s just while walking around. The title uses sound in ways that I have not witnessed in a game. You hear screams off to the side and you know that something nasty is waiting for you.

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror-action video game. If you enjoy survival horror games than you are in for a treat. You play as Issac Clarke who ends up battling the craziest looking aliens on a mining ship.

As a First Look, I won’t give too many details about the game. The controls are pretty easy to use, but there are a lot of them. EA was not lying when they stressed the importance of strategic dismemberment.

I have never wanted to play a survival horror game in my life. I get nightmares pretty easily, and there are plenty of games to play otherwise. Yet, I can’t stay away from Dead Space. I scream, I yell and ultimately I run to turn off the 360 as fast as I can, but I keep coming back for more. When I finish the game, I’ll be able to reflect and see if my newness to the genre kept me from seeing any flaws. Until then, Dead Space is the best game I never thought I would be playing.
