I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I found out I would be reviewing about a game called Alien Blobs and I was happy to find it is a very fun action based puzzle game! The game has 2 modes: Arcade and Story. In the story mode, you play as Alice- the teenage daughter of a scientist working to bring peace to his world by inventing defense weapons to combat the alien blobs. You soon find yourself having to defend the world against these blobs before they destroy you. This can be done in 2 ways: either by moving your finger around the sphere and shooting matching circles or by tilting your ipod to accomplish the same goal. The idea is to match up your colored circles with the corresponding Alien Blob colors to make them explode. The blobs multiply and can fire weapons back at you to knock you out. When this happens, you have to restart the level. After so many levels, boss battles are introduced providing another level of challenge.

The graphics were a combination of cartoon storyboards and gameplay. It has a very high cuteness factor.Controls:
The touch method is very intuitive and responsive. Although, at times I wished I had the dexterity to use 3 fingers to play or maybe I just needed a 3rd hand. The tilt method seemed less responsive and I found it difficult to determine how to properly tilt the screen. This was much more noticable in boss battles when I found myself running into the baddie instead of away from it.Flow:
Very fluid. The story line easily transitions between plot points and it seems like one consistant game.Sound:
Alien Blobs is filled with mood music but not really a score. The alien blobs also make cute sounds as Alice kills them.Fun Facter:
Alien Blobs is addictive and fun. This is the type of game I love to pick up to play when I feel like playing something but can’t decide. Its a fun casual game along the lines of Zuma or Bejeweled.Female Aspect:
Alice is a strong intelligent female heroine. She seems like the type of girl any parent would be proud of. She is thrown into a a bad situation and forced to become a hero.Replay Value:
High. Because this is a puzzle/ match 3 game, I could play it over and over again and still feel challenged. The arcade mode has multiple challenges and I would easily have enough to keep me happily occupied for a very long time. Its also a good value. The full version of Alien Blobs is available on iTunes for $3.99. A free “lite” version is also available but it doesn’t have all the levels nor the same type of replay value.
