Fish Tycoon Review

Fish Tycoon is a fish-breeding SIM with an entrepreneurial twist. Raise your fish in real time virtual aquariums, then crossbreed them however you see fit to create all new, super unique breeds. Open your fish store and sell your fish to raise money for supplies, medicine, and special chemicals while researching new technologies or investing in advertising. Find the correct genetic combination needed to make each of the “Seven Magic Fish” and become the ultimate Fish Tycoon!

Graphics:
Right, the graphics scores. Well it does really look like a tank with fish swimming in it. That screen seems to move along smoothly, but when sales mode is entered and you go into the store, the graphics are very chunky and below the quality of a standard Nintendo DS game.
Graphics score: 3 /10

Controls:
The controls are as simple as a drag and drop interface. However the words drag and drop do not always apply and you wind up dragging and dropping into the wrong tank most of the time or dead fish continue to pop up even though you have dragged them into the trash. Other than that, the controls are very basic. That is pretty much all that is needed for a game like this.
Controls score: 4/10

Flow:
Not really sure what to think about this. The flow is in real time, which is a royal pain. Most people do not have time to continuously check if their fish are sick, hungry, or just need any attention. So a busy life results in all the fish dying and being without money or fish. If you have the time, then that is fine. You will be able to make enough money to produce the “Seven Magical Fish.” If not, the game’s flow just gets annoying and you cannot play the game to its full potential, which is sad.
Flow score: 3/10

Fun Factor:
The game is very much fun in the beginning. You have a tank full of fish and you can make anything. But after a while, the music gets relaxing and you want to take a nap. Then you realize that all of your fish are dead and you have to start over. Looking at fish swimming around in a tank just is not worth the time or energy.
Fun score: 2/10

Female Aspect:
There is not really a female or male factor to it. Anyone could pick this game up and play it. The play is universal, which is one thing that is likeable about this game.
Female Factor score: 5/10

Replay Value:
The reply value is not all that great. The game pretty much goes on forever and the gameplay is so repetitive that there is no need to pick this game up and replay it. Replay Score: 2/10

Vainya’s comments: Overall, skip this one. It really is repetitive and the time that it takes up is just too long for anyone who is a true casual gamer who just want to pick up a game and play it.
