Monster Mash -Prepare your Defenses
In Monster Mash, the villagers of Curly Valley are under attack from legions of quirky and bizarre monsters. The tranquil valleys in this distant fairy-tale world are under siege and it’s up to you to protect them from the coming onslaught. Use all of your cunning and might to repel these mysterious invaders by fortifying the vulnerable villages with various towers, upgrades and unusual defensive armaments.
Graphics:The graphics are pretty basic. There is a highlighting of the path that the monsters are traveling and the village that you have to protect. The villagers are in the form of little girl sprites that are either running from the various types of monsters on the screen or who are safely nested in the village. The monster sprites look almost like the monsters that they portray and that’s pretty much it for the graphics.
Graphics score: 6/10
Controls:Controls: The controls are pretty much a point and click style interface. There’s a menu that displays the current amount of money you have, the type of weapons you can buy and their upgrades. All of this as well as a life bar and a monster wave bar that tells you how many monsters you’re going to have to prepare to fight. It’s a pretty simple system although I’m not too sure how the upgrades system works and the placing of towers on the map. There are certain places where a tower should be placed but cannot be placed there.
Controls score: 7/10
Flow:The flow is very linear. In terms of gameplay the only thing you have to do is strategically place towers in places that would defend your village. This is easier said than done as the game gets harder the more you advance in the game. But the object is still the same, save the village.
Flow score: 3/10
Fun Factor:Fun Factor: The game is fun for the first five levels. After that the game gets almost insanely hard. It’s hard to save the village and with all the different combinations you’ll be building for what seems like almost forever until you get the one correct solution to the puzzle.
Fun score: 4/10
Female Factor:Well the villagers are represented by little girls if that counts. You’re saving them but that’s nothing new. Other than that this is a general strategy game for those that like the genre.
Female Factor score: 4/10
Replay Value:The game is hard and it takes a bit of strategy to get pass the levels. If you do wind up replaying the game you’ll know all the tricks to getting past the game. It’s so hard though that only if you’re a hardcore strategy gamer you’d want to replay this one.
Replay Score: 2/10
Vainya’s Comments: This is a good game that is focused to those who like a challenge and strategy. If you’re not familiar with this genre or are just trying something new then I suggest you download a trial version before you play this. This is definitely a try- before-buy game.
