    PixelJunk 1-4 announces new name

Pixel-Junk revealed 1-4 a few weeks ago and turned to you to help them name their latest game. They are now ready to announce the winning name. In just one week we got over 100,000 visitors to http://pixeljunk.jp and 10,000 people offered up ideas for a name based on the trailer. Even though the trailer’s resolution left a lot to be desired, we got a ridiculous amount of praise… and the team’s ego has been inflated a bit, which is a good thing, because now we’ll have to work extra specially hard to live up to everyone’s expectations! The winning name is PixelJunk Shooter. The winner is Mario Paquet from Canada! PixelJunk mentions that another demo will be at E3. We’ll have our impressions up during that week (June 1-4). Do You Know Where Your Towel Is?

Every year on May 25th fans of the most amazing intergalactic space journey known as the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy proudly get their towels and remember the man behind the trilogy in five parts – Douglas Adams. We also celebrate by drinking copious amounts of Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters and reading the instructions on boxes of toothpicks. My first encounter with the Hitchhikers Guide was many years back. I was around fourteen or so and late one night on the college radio station they were playing the audio book as read by Stephen Fry. The very next day

    FanimeCon 2009

This past weekend, I had the honor to go to FanimeCon 2009 in San Jose, California. It was just as I had expected: cosplayers galore and so many booths and things to check out. I was really excited to see the arcade room, which took up an entire exhibit hall. I couldn’t believe there were so many Dance Dance Revolution variants, even something called ParaParaParadise that is another dancing game that uses hand motions instead of feet. Aside from the coin-operated games and claw machines, there were numerous tables for card players, as well as a giant stack of board games. There were a bunch of televisions set up in a big square with game systems hooked up to it. I saw people playing anything from Rock Band to Castle Crashers to Pokemon Stadium. I was a little sad that so few people were playing card games. There were offerings
