    Google to sell eBooks

Yesterday Google announced that they will be joining the eBook business and will begin offering them for sale. Google spokesman Gabriel Stricker said consumers would not be able to download books in the same way Amazon’s customers can buy copies of specific titles and store them on their Kindle. Instead, people who access books through Google would be able to read titles online and temporarily cache them in their Internet browsers so they could also read them offline. Google has also said that they will allow publishers to set their own prices, but that they will still reserve the right to discount titles “at their own expense.” This is an interesting step that they’re taking, especially with the recent book search settlement. I’m also not sure how I feel about this. I’m sure that Google will come up with a great interface and search function, but I can only assume

    1vs100 US beta

For basic information on gameplay or about the Canadian beta, please visit Yukino’s lovely article here. She did a wonderful job covering the basics. I had a slightly different experience with the United States release of the 1 vs 100 beta test June 1. I had downloaded the game a couple hours early as well as set a reminder. I played with a couple of my friends, and all 3 of us managed to get in to play. Of course, we were in the crowd each time, but it was still an interesting adventure. Just because I wasn’t in the mob, it didn’t keep me from not wanting to do my best. There was a lot more variance in the types of questions. Not many were things only US residents would know, and it wasn’t all about gaming, which was a nice surprise. My favorite was when they asked where

Tetris turns 25 and still going strong

In June 1984, Alexy Pajitnov, a Russian-born mathematician wrote the program for Tetris in his spare time. His love of puzzles inspired him to create a game where players arranged distinctive puzzle pieces in real time along the bottom of the rectangular playing field or “matrix” in order to clear lines. “For a short time, I was the best Tetris player in the world,” he said. Now, people everywhere have Tetris to play on their phones, gaming systems, iPods and iPhones. Tetris is one of the world’s most popular casual computer games with over 125 million products sold on more than 30 platforms and available in more than 50 countries. I think Tetris was my favorite game to play during math class in high school on my TI83 calculator. EA Mobile has done very well with their exclusive license of Tetris for cellphones and other mobile devices. And Tetris has
