Next Potter film delays Imax release

I am devastated to read about the fact that Warner Bros. has chosen to delay the release of the Imax version of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The delay isn’t small either, it’s two weeks. I’m not the only one upset as Imax shares have dropped from the news. “Shares of Imax dropped 4% on Monday to $7.31 after a Wall Street analyst said the delay ‘should negatively impact Imax boxoffice results.’” While Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince opens on July 14, Imax theaters won’t see the movie until July 29. The July release date actually overlaps Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which is why the Imax date is being postponed. “Potter” contains 12 minutes of 3-D footage that moviegoers can experience only through Imax. Eric Wold said, “There will obviously be some consumers that choose to wait for the Imax version with its 3-D scenes

Jack Bauer will be getting some help from ass-kicking Starbuck next season on 24. Katee Sackhoff will be joining the cast as Dana Walsh, a “smart, competent, expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole” (Freddie Prinze Jr.). Talks started awhile back but Katee was entertaining another offer on a cable channel but chose to sign on with Fox Friday. Sackhoff starts filming Wednesday on the series starring Kiefer Sutherland. E3 look at Disney Interactive games

This year at E3 Disney Interactive had many titles to show. While most of the games are geared toward younger gamers, many of them are fun for the whole family to get involved. So grab a controller with your younger sibling and get ready to have fun. Sing IT Pop Hits is the first Disney Interactive title we come up to. The game includes top Pop hits from both Disney and non-Disney artists. Miley Cyrus was singing in the background as each song has the video to accompany it. A unique addition to the Sing IT series is the ability to actually learn how to sing. Disney artist Tiffany Thornton, takes gamers through actual singing lessons. This title will be for the Wii and PS3 this fall 2009. Video Games | G-Force | E3 09: Trailer XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii This summer, Guinea Pigs are taking

MAG was running at E3 last week at “30 frames per second” running with the full 256 players. Over half of American women say they are game players

Over half of American women polled in the SRG research study say they are game-players and that their favorite console game is Guitar Hero. The study interviewed 2,000 women age 12 and up. “Gaming is one of the most dynamic forms of entertainment, perhaps its no wonder that in our current economic climate, women are looking to escape digitally,” said Donna Hall, co-author of the study. The Sony Playstation 2 has the lead in terms of console that women play occasionally, but the Nintendo Wii is gaining steam. Console gamers identified the Wii as their favorite console in the survey. For type of games, Guitar Hero is the favorite followed by Mario Kart and Wii Fit. “Another reason for the increasing popularity of gaming among moms is an opportunity to spend time with the kids. Guitar Hero provides a nostalgic music experience for moms while actively engaging a child on

E3 First Look – Zombie Apocalypse

At the Konami booth during E3 last week, I was able to check out Zombie Apocalypse, a game that’ll be available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network next month.  The game is a basic zombie survival game where you kill the zombies to survive ‘days’ in the game.  The game can be played with up to 4 players where you have the chance to collect the 11 different weapons and survive wave after wave of zombies. One of the things I really liked about this game is how easy it is to pick up and play: left stick to move, right to shoot.  There’s some really great weapons – like the teddy bear with C4 inside that lets you lure the zombies away from you and your friends while you waste them.  Another nice touch is that much of the landscape on each screen can be interacted with – and

Pachter: Microsoft had most impactful E3 presentation

Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter was everywhere this E3. He has released a note today, stating Microsoft is the winner of E3 because they had the most “impactful presentation of the three console manufacturers.” “Much of the big news of E3 had been leaked well before the event, with many stories previewing motion technology introduced by Microsoft and rampant leaks in advance of Sony’s new PSP Go,” says the research note. “Nintendo managed to keep most of its big announcements a secret ahead of the show.” “We thought that Microsoft had the most impactful presentation of the three console manufacturers, with an expanded offering of traditional games (Halo Reach, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid Rising) and the new motion controller Project Natal. The company also showcased the new Rock Band Beatles game, and trotted out several big name celebrities.” “Sony’s presentation was full of content, although somewhat long, with major
