First images from Tim Burton’s Wonderland

USA Today has some first pictures as to what Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland will look like and they are fantastic! Movie theaters should be getting these promo pictures this week. Alice in Wonderland is due in the theaters March 5, 2010. “The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.” Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen. Producer Richard Zanuck, says she loved saying “Off with their heads!” Anne Hathaway is playing the White Queen who gets overthrown by her sister. There are three more

ICv2 hosts Comics and Media Conference before SD Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con is where the world of comics, film, and video games collide. Everything that might be marketed to geeks is in attendance. The Wednesday of Comic Con used to be only Preview Night, but now ICv2 has created the Comics and Media Conference to help build connections between comics, film, tv and videogames. “Comics are increasingly the raw material for films, TV shows, and videogames and vice versa, and San Diego is where that all comes together,” ICv2 President Milton Griepp said. “We wanted to create a conference where everyone in the business from comic writers and artists to film producers could come together to talk about what’s happening and about how to expand this incredibly productive cross-fertilization.” The ICv2 Comics and Media Conference will be held July 22, from 1-5pm just before Preview Night starts at Comic con. Confirmed speakers and panelists include film, TV, and

    EA’s Peter Moore challenges Obama

Last week, President Obama stated that videogames are linked to a sedentary lifestyle during a speech to the American Medical Association. EA’s Peter Moore decided to “challenge” Obama on his official blog. “It may be time for the President and his family to put their Wii to good use and fire up the 30-Day Challenge with EA SPORTS Active. This is a “game” even the President may not want to “step away” from… In fact, I know [Obama is] in pretty good shape, but I guarantee the President wouldn’t look quite so smooth walking across the White House lawn to Marine One the morning after his first session with EA SPORTS Active (especially if he does those pesky lunges)! … Mr. President, here is my challenge to you: Try EA SPORTS Active and I guarantee you’ll need aides saying “Yes You Can!” to finish your first workout.” Nice move Mr.

The Gaming Angels & their Dads

Trina: I remember at a very young age going with my dad to large conventions where they sold computer hardware and software. I used to pick up every floppy disc that had games on it. These floppies would have 20 arcade titles on them. I was in gamer heaven. But while at the events, I also learned about the hardware on the tables. Fast forward to more recently and my dad is incredibly supportive of GamingAngels.com. If he hears of something on the news, he calls to see if I was at the event, or if I know about it. He listens when I go on and on about gaming and the site. He even gives me ideas for GA. I want to wish my dad a happy father’s day and say thank you for teaching me about computers, being my baseball coach, and for never saying I can’t do

    Top TV Dads

I am completely a daddy’s girl which is why I’ve always loved Father’s day. It’s a day that we celebrate Dad. After all the good and the bad, Dad’s always seem to have the answers. In America we love tv dads almost as much as our own. It’s no surprise that according to a Harris Poll, that Dr. Cliff Huxtable from the Cosby Show is still the top dad on the list. Beaver’s dad, Ward Cleaver of Leave it to Beaver is second followed by Jim Anderson from Father Knows Best. Howard Cunningham of Happy Days is at number 7 while Tim Taylor of Tool Time and Home Improvement lands at number 10. It’s interesting that most of the dad’s selected are all from before the 90′s. Only one dad listed is on Prime Time Television, Homer Simpson. Has the tv dad taken a back seat to the teen era

Creator of The Path talks Hollywood and Games

Michael Samyn from Tale of Tales, commented on a recent Wired interview with Guillermo del Toro. The interview covered much of his work, but Michael focused on del Toro’s call for doing more in videogames than just shooting people. Unfortunately, I’ve found in my videogame experience that the big companies are just as conservative as the [Hollywood] studios. I was disappointed with the first Hellboy game. I’m very impressed with the sandbox of Grand Theft Auto. You can get lost in that world. But we’re using it just to shoot people and run over old ladies. We could be doing so much more. Michael states his happiness that film directors are starting to dream about the potential of gaming and puts out the question as to why people within the industry aren’t doing more. “We all know what del Toro is talking about. I’ll be interested to see if somebody
