    Facebook the movie?

Can Hollywood make a movie out of anything? Have all the ideas been taken? David Fincher, director of ‘Seven’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Zodiac’, and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ is starting to talk to Columbia Pictures about a move called ‘The Social Network’. The film was written by Aaron Sorkin and is about the formation of Facebook. Literally. Yes we are serious. The film will focus on the evolution from 2004 to now that it has over 200 million members. Maybe an interesting made for tv movie, but a real film? The plan is to start production later this year. [source GeekTyrant] Follow

    Manifesto Games is closing

Greg Costikyan has announced in a blog post that he is closing Manifesto Games. Manifesto Games started in September of 2005 with the goal of making independently developed games available outside typical retail outlets. In 2006, Costikyan wrote this about Manifesto, “The machinery of gaming has run amok. Instead of serving creative vision, it suppresses it. Instead of encouraging innovation, it represses it. Instead of taking its cue from our most imaginative minds, it takes its cue from the latest month’s PC Data list. Instead of rewarding those who succeed, it penalizes them with development budgets so high and royalties so low that there can be no reward for creators. Instead of ascribing credit to those who deserve it, it seeks to associate success with the corporate machine. It is time for revolution.” Unfortunately things haven’t worked out the way he envisioned. Steam has become a channel that developers are

    Six Years of Second Life

A Second Life of Possibilities A Guest Article by Joylia Sometimes all we want to do is escape into a world that allows us to be who we want to be, dress how we like without reservation, and live without any limitations, including gravity. That very world that we wish to dwell in can differ just on a whim in regards to our mood and what we are looking to get into that exact moment. Perhaps as we wake for the day we may decide that we want to just hang out with friends, talk, shop, or spend a day on a beautiful beach even if we are hundreds of miles away from our friends or the warm ocean breeze. Or maybe we choose to enter a post-apocalyptic realm as we load our guns, sheath our swords and set out with a select few to assert just who truly rules

Are You One of Bejeweled Blitz’s 5 Million Friends?

The Fabulous Facebook App from PopCap Games, which has just made it out of Beta, has quickly become quite the phenomenon. As a pressure cooking, one-minute version of the original incredibly popular Bejeweled, Bejeweled Blitz has created a highly competitive (at least on my team) social community unto itself in just the 6 short months since it’s December ’08 debut. “One-minute Bejeweled was initially an in-house joke,” said Jason Kapalka, PopCap’s chief creative officer, “because who’d think anyone would play a ‘casual’ game with such a frenzied time limit? But it turned out the one-minute timer actually made the game more accessible, as a bite-size entertainment for people busy doing other things on Facebook.” John Vechey, PopCap’s head of online and social projects, added, “The social nature of the game felt like the missing link. Playing Bejeweled on your own was always fun, but playing with and against family and
