    Archaia announces $9.95 hardcover program

    To help encourage comic book fans to discover Archaia’s unique titles, the publisher has announced a program to offer one new hardcover every quarter for the low price of $9.95. The very first hardcover will be Vol. 1 of The Engineer: Konstrukt which will be available this August.     Harry Potter star Tom Felton to appear at Hot Topic

    Warner Bros has teamed with Hot Topic to announce a one-time fan event in Paramus, New Jersey. On Friday, July 10, Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, will be at the Hot Topic store in Garden State Plaza. 750 fans will get to meet Tom for an autograph session. To become one of the 750, Hot Topic is selling a limited-edition Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince T-Shirt. Starting today, fans can buy the t-shirt available exclusively at the Hot Topic store in New Jersey.     Kojima has three ideas for Metal Gear Solid 5

    Hideo Kojima has stated over and over again that he wants to work on something new. Something completely different than the Metal Gear Series. But it also keeps pulling him back. In an interview with 1up Kojima said he has three ideas for Metal Gear Solid 5. “I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don’t do those,” he said. “If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don’t want to do. “There are already so many good ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think.” He mentions how he does have ideas that don’t involve Metal Gear.

    THQ developing their own gaming peripheral

    THQ is working on its own gaming peripheral and it should be out sometime in 2010. CEO Brian Farrell mentioned to the LA Business Journal that the controller-based title will give THQ an advantage over the competition. “We have something that we think is different from anything else out there and will give us a competitive advantage,” Farrell said. “Beyond that, we can’t say much.” No more information on what the game is, what genre, what type of peripheral.     Hirai announces upgraded PSN to arrive in Spring 2010

    Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai has announced a new and enhanced version of Playstation Network that should launch next spring. Fortune reports that Hirai suggested that the upgraded service will work with other Sony devices, including phones, cameras, and televisions. “It’s now a matter of what all the services need to look like for each device, and coming out with a rollout plan,” he said. “It’s like city planning here, and we can start small. We don’t need to build New York City overnight.” The goal is to make it easier for consumers. There was also a hint at a loyalty reward type system.
