Rhianna Pratchett feels games need less testosterone

In a recent interview with ThatVideoGame blog, Overlord and Mirror’s Edge writer Rhianna Pratchett stated that dev studios are starting to take the plot of games more seriously. “Writers and narrative designers are still relatively new positions on development teams.” she said. “This means there’s still a level of uncertainty about how best to use and integrate them. Viva Pinata used in classrooms

Waikato schools offered more than 100 of their students Xbox game controllers at Hamilton’s Southwell School. This is part of a new Microsoft initiative to help students learn skills such as problem solving and working together as a group. “People are realising there really is education here (with the games program), instead of backing off and saying that is just what happens at home,” project director Dave Winter said. The students at Southwell School, St. Andrew’s Middle School and Cambridge Middle School were split up into teams on 15 Xbox consoles and played Viva Pinata. The students each had roles to play. One would be the gamer, another a watcher, the third as a researcher, and last student blogged about the group. One student hopes to encourage his parents to buy him a 360 for at home. “They know it’s for learning,” Cade Fleming said. “With this game we are
