E3 2009: Into the Pixel: Interview with Joseph Olin
E3 Day Two: It was yet another early morning for the Angels today. The day started out with the Nintendo Press Conference at Club Nokia. Sony provided a shuttle bus service that took everyone from the Nintendo conference to their Sony Press Conference, which took place a few miles away at the Legendary Shrine Auditorium. Our first stop of the day was to the Into the Pixel gallery where we had the opportunity to interview Joseph Olin, the President of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. Olin oversees the the annual D.I.C.E (Design, Innovative, Communicate, Entertain) Summit, the Interactive Achievements Award (IAA), and the Into the Pixel video game art exhibit.
The Into the Pixel exhibit features sixteen works of video game art, selected by a panel of jurors from a field of submissions gleaned from artists around the world. The exhibition offers an opportunity for published video and computer game artists to be reviewed and recognized by the public and by their peers in both the fine art and video game worlds.
Trina and I sat down with Mr. Olin to talk more about the art of Into the Pixel, the selection process, and what the future may hold.
Here are just a few of the pieces that you can view at the Into the Pixel Gallery on the Concourse at 2009’s E3 Expo:
Please check out the Into the Pixel website for more information, updates, and of course, the ART!
