First images from Tim Burton’s Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

USA Today has some first pictures as to what Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland will look like and they are fantastic! Movie theaters should be getting these promo pictures this week. Alice in Wonderland is due in the theaters March 5, 2010.

“The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.”

Red Queen

Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen. Producer Richard Zanuck, says she loved saying “Off with their heads!”

White Queen

Anne Hathaway is playing the White Queen who gets overthrown by her sister.

There are three more scenic pictures in the USA Today article. These pictures make me even more excited for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Can we have it now please?

Is that Johnny Depp (spelling?) in the first photo? He’s unrecognizable!

I really don’t like this. His movies have become cookie-cutter these days. The original cartoon was good enough, I don’t see why they need to make this movie again. Maybe Tim Burton could write something original, like he used to.

This looks great to me. I love the re-imagining of films, and this looks like it will have some great potential. Then again I’m a big fan of twisted fairy tales, and something tells me this won’t be my childhood Alice.

Also, Johnny Depp looks more like Elijah Wood as the Mad Hatter

Helena Bonham Carter’s head looks so big in that picture. XD

I personally agree with RachelZoe … to a point. I am interested to see how this turns out, but I’m not in a desperate rush to see it.

Anne looks amazing though, and being an Anne fan I will see it at some point. And is it just me, or did anyone else flash back to Edward Scissorhands when they saw that pic of Johnny Depp?

Am I the only one who thinks the Mad Hatter looks more like Elijah Wood than Johnny Depp?
