House of Mystery

By: Rachel

“Welcome to the House of Mystery! Filled with peculiar, otherworldly characters from all walks of life, this series from Matthew Sturges (JACK OF FABLES) and Bill Willingham (FABLES) focuses on five people trapped in the reality-warping House of Mystery, a supernatural bar where tales are the legal tender and only the finest storytellers are patrons! But how – and why – they’re stuck inside is all just a little piece of the puzzle…”

After reading the first 5 issues of the series, I was instantly hooked. Not only is the main story and illustration superb, but each comic is hijacked by a new artist right in the middle. As the B story is generally told by one of the residents of the House of Mystery, the tales are told in the fashion the storyteller would relate them. It’s a nice respite in an engaging A story. Already up to issue #14, now would definitely be the time to check this gem out.

Awesome! I will pick that up next time I'm at a comic book store. Thank you for the head's up! I would have never known about this otherwise!

There is at least one trade out, of the first 5 issues. It's really very good, worth picking up.

Wow this does sound cool. I wonder why I've never heard of anyone talk about it before. Especially with Fables people involved! 14 issues...Is there a trade out or maybe coming soon?

I talked about it in an Angel Life post when it first came out. I've been in love with it since the first issue. But Zoe describes the two stories in one better than I could. :)
