Watchmen Director’s Cut to go to theaters
Tweet
Warner Bros is sending Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of “Watchmen” to a limited theatrical release one week before Comic-Con San Diego.
The director’s cut has an additional 25 minutes of footage including the death of a supporting character. Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Dallas will all get to see it in the theater before the Blu-Ray and DVD release on July 21.
A celebration will be at Comic Con on July 25 with a screening that is set to be a BD-Live event. This means Blu-Ray viewers can watch the movie at the same time as the Comic-Con audience and hear Snyder comment on the movie. Blu-Ray viewers will also be able to ask questions.
“Comic-Con, it isn’t just comic book fanatics, it’s cinephiles as well. It’ll be cool to discuss what people are thinking,” Snyder said at a “Watchmen” press day, held Wednesday at Warner Bros., where the news was unveiled. The day was designed to showcase a bonus Blu-ray feature called Maximum Movie Mode as well as features to be seen in Snyder’s Blu-ray release of “300: The Complete Experience.”
“Warner Bros. is hoping to use the filmmakers of its movies to produce immersive home movie experiences.”
My advice for the Comic-Con screening is get in line early.
