    Bayonetta delayed until 2010

    Looks like the latest game to join the ranks of the delayed is SEGA’s Bayonetta. SEGA announced that the title will be bumped to January 2010 but will stick with an October 29 release for Japan. “Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for SEGA and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio. As a result of market analysis we have taken a Publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximize this exciting new title’s potential,” said Mike Hayes, President and COO for SEGA West.     Xbox Live update details announced, includes Netflix Movie Parties, Games on Demand

    Microsoft has released information about the next Xbox Live dashboard update to select news outlets. Engadget has a great list of exactly what is included in the update. Highlights include support for Games on Demand in August, the ability to browse the library and manage your queue in Netflix, and share a picture with friends for Gold members. The avatar clothing will include fashion from fashion labels as well as game-themed clothing. Avatars will be able to equip props and be awarded clothing within games.     AT&T Customers get to be the first mobile Maple Story adventurers

    Yesterday, AT&T announced that MapleStory(C) is now available for download from the AT&T MEdia Mall, AT&T’s multimedia content store. AT&T is the first U.S. wireless carrier to launch the mobile version of MapleStory, which is the world’s first 2D side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game and has over 92 million worldwide registered users. Just like in the online version, AT&T customers will be able to take part in all of the MapleStory action from assuming characters to taking on challenges where they are called upon to protect the Maple World. The AT&T version of the mobile game also includes a special bonus.     Adventure Quest hits 9 million players

    Artix Entertainment, creator of MMORPG AdventureQuest Worlds, announced today the game has exceeded 9 million registered players. AQ launched just launched this past October, AdventureQuest Worlds has grown an average of 1.1 million new players every month. “The spectacular growth rate of AQW shows no signs of slowing down, and we find that very gratifying,” said Adam Bohn, founder and CEO of Artix Entertainment. “The game’s appeal – in addition to chat, real-time combat, wars, and live events – is enhanced by our releasing at least one new game update every week since launch.” AdventureQuest Worlds provides players with exciting adventures battling armies of monsters in real-time combat and new weekly quests.     Avatars to get premium clothing

    Details of the upcoming 360 update have been released and included in that is premium Avatar clothing. This picture shows a Steampunk theme that sells for 160 Microsoft Points. Looks like female avatars will finally get some good looking clothing, only like in real life, you’ll have to pay for it.     MTV and Harmonix announce the Rock Band Network

    Today, MTV and Harmonix have announced a new initiative for music artists and record labels the ability to author their own original recordings into gameplay files and sell their music as playable tracks through the new Rock Band Network. “Our goal with Rock Band has always been to go beyond making music games and create a true music platform,” said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix. “With the Rock Band Network, we’ve evolved the platform to its next logical step, giving players access to an incredible amount of new music by putting the professional tools we use in the hands of the artists themselves.” The Rock Band Network will have an open beta that will start in late August of this year, and will have detailed documentation on how bands can begin the process of authoring songs into Rock Band gameplay files.
