Top Cow’s “Magdalena” to become a Movie

Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios, Inc. have attached Ryuhei Kitamura to direct and Holly Brix to write the feature film “Magdalena” based on Top Cow’s comic book character “Magdalena.” Kitamura previously directed “Midnight Meat Train” for Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment, and he has directed numerous Japanese films including “Godzilla: Final Wars,” “Love Death,” “Sky High” and “Azumi” among many others. Gale Anne Hurd and Platinum Studios’ Chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg are set to produce. Top Cow’s CEO Marc Silvestri (“Witchblade,” “Darkness”) would serve as executive producer as would former Universal Pictures senior executive Randy Greenberg of The Greenberg Group, who helped negotiate the deal. Matt Hawkins, President of Top Cow Productions, is set to co-produce. “Both Kitamura and Brix bring very unique visions to ‘Magdalena,’” said Hurd. “Kitamura’s visual style coupled with Brix imaginative narrative will truly make ‘Magdalena’ a compelling film on screen”

Amazon.com buys Zappos for $850 million

Amazon.com has purchased online retailer, Zappos.com. Tony Hsieh the CEO of Zappos.com, wrote a CEO Letter about the new business deal and how it affects the employees. In short, it won’t. This morning, our board approved and we signed what’s known as a “definitive agreement”, in which all of the existing shareholders and investors of Zappos (there are over 100) will be exchanging their Zappos stock for Amazon stock. Once the exchange is done, Amazon will become the only shareholder of Zappos stock. Over the next few days, you will probably read headlines that say “Amazon acquires Zappos” or “Zappos sells to Amazon”. While those headlines are technically correct, they don’t really properly convey the spirit of the transaction. (I personally would prefer the headline “Zappos and Amazon sitting in a tree…”) We plan to continue to run Zappos the way we have always run Zappos — continuing to do

Interview with Saboteur’s Lead Game Director, Tom French

The Saboteur is a game we have been dying to get more information about since seeing it at E3. We teamed up with EA.com to get more information on Pandemic’s latest title. I’ve heard that the story for Saboteur is loosely based around a real life story that was found on Wikipedia. How did your team find the story and what types of changes had to be made to make it work in a video game? The Saboteur is inspired by the true story of William Grover-Williams rather than being based on his actual life events. Andrew Goldman, one of the founders of Pandemic Studios, learned about three race-car drivers that were recruited by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and ultimately reinserted back into France to assist the French Resistance. Williams was a half-English, half-French Grand Prix Champion who drove for the French Bugatti racing team that fled to

You might find some of his stories a little far-fetched but they are all true and you’ll be hard-pressed not to end up with a smile on your face. His latest DVD is “Live at the Athenaeum” which was filmed live during one of Danny’s shows at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre. It took place during his 65 date tour which completely sold out.
