    Defense Grid: The Awakening Unveiled during Comic-Con

    Disney Announces Alice in Wonderland the Game

    Disney Interactive Studios today announced development of video game adaptations of Tim Buton’s upcoming movie, Alice in Wonderland. The video games take place several years after the original “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” stories. Alice in Wonderland for Wii, Nintendo DS and Windows-based PC takes players on a topsy-turvy and immersive journey in Underland as Alice finds herself in a world of illusion and magic where nothing is quite like it seems. Alongside her endearing friends –Mad Hatter, March Hare, Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit – players aid Alice to defeat the Red Queen and Jabberwocky.     Halo Waypoint becomes new destination for Halo fans

    The Halo panel at San Diego Comic Con just ended and there were a couple of surprises. First, the panel was composed of members from various anime studios that worked on the Halo Legends project. The trailer for Halo Legends will be on Spike tv tonight and on Xbox Live. They also announced Halo Waypoint. This is a new destination for Halo fans that is all things Halo. There will be content, career stats, and it will all be on your 360. Halo Legends won’t be out until next year, but Waypoint fans will continue to get updates. One of the more interesting points during the panel was the discussion about female characters. The anime studios really wanted to explore the life of a tough female warrior. Bungie worked directly with the anime studios on all aspects of the project to make sure it stayed true to the Halo universe.

    Nintendo Introduces Wii Sports Resort

    Nintendo has announced the next installment of the Wii Sports franchise: Wii Sports Resort. The game features a new control system which takes advantage of the Wii Motion Plus. This controller attaches to the base of the Wii base of the Wii Remote in order to make the controls more accurate. Wii Sports Resort is targeted to both the veteran and non-experienced gamer. The 12 sports (archery, basketball, bowling, golf, table tennis, Swordplay, Air Sports, canoeing, cycling, Frisbee, Power Cruising and wakeboarding) allow players to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers in different ways, and while some sports require both controllers, others can be played using only the Wii Remote. In archery, players hold the Wii Remote vertically like a bow while drawing back the Nunchuk. In Frisbee, players motion with the Wii Remote as though they were tossing a real Frisbee.     GameStop Announces Exclusive Map with Batman Preorder

    North American GameStop customers who preorder Batman: Arkham Asylum will receive a code for an exclusive map for the game where players can battle Scarecrow’s army of skeletons.  The map is reportedly one the most difficult Challenge Maps of the game.  Batman:Arkham Asylum takes players into the dark world of the Arkham Asylum where they will battle against The Joker and other villains who have taken over the asylum.  The story line was written by Batman writer and 5 time Emmy Award winning writer Paul Dini.    Batman: Arkham Asylum will be available August 25, 2009.     ESA takes on the Chicago Transit Authority

    Video Games Voters Network is reporting that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The lawsuit alleges that CTA is violating the right to free speech as protected by the First Amendment to the US Constitution.  Earlier this year, the CTA banned advertisements for video games rated Mature 17+  (M) and Adults Only (AO).     Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie review

    The Harry Potter movie series has been the first movie series to go past three and still remain good (The last trilogy I’ve liked was Lord of the Rings). With this in mind, and after seeing the trailers, I was very excited to go and see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I must admit that after seeing the movie though, I’m a bit conflicted on how I feel about it. Visually, the movie looked fantastic. David Yates definitely has an eye for cinematography, and this has helped the overall look of the movies themselves. I was also pleased to see how Draco Malfoy’s character was fleshed out well, and that Tom Felton did a good job of showing Draco beyond being a stuck up bully. Also, I felt that Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter did fantastic jobs in their roles of also fleshing out the characters a bit
