Goblins and Worgen as new playable races?

Thanks to some data-miners, it was discovered a couple weeks back that there may be some new races heading our way in the next WoW expansion. Based on the discovery of Goblin and Worgen looking Halloween masks, speculation has arose about these being new races to play. One of the blues I believe has said in response to people asking about a new race for the next expansion that they would want to “pre-seed” a new race, or basically using a race that’s already in the game instead of coming up with an entirely new race like they did with the Draenei.

Now I’m a bit skeptical. MMOChampion has posted their own screen shot of these new Halloween masks, along with others: Naga, Murloc, Vrykul and Orgre. For all we know Blizzard planted these skins in the game specificly for the speculation that it would cause once a dataminer found them. Or we could just be getting more masks this year for the Hallows End festival. Then again, maybe one or two of these races will become an actual playable race for the next expansion. I’m honestly leaning towards this just being a big red herring to distract people while Blizzard plans for a big announcement at BlizzCon they want to keep hush hush.

I’d also be interested on how the lore factor would work if Worgen and Goblins are added into the game as a race. Since the neutral Goblins play such a big role in the game as it is, this race may be an offshoot (or would the neutral goblins be the offshoot) that has decided to side with a faction. I could definitely see them siding with the horde as I’ve always felt they were more for the Horde than the Alliance. I’m really not sure how they’d work in the Worgen though. Granted there is the whole story with Gilneas, and maybe it’s those residents that were turned to Worgen wanting to join the Alliance, or even the Worgen from their own dimension wanting the help of the Alliance against the Nightmare in the Emerald Dream. WoW.com has a great article regarding possible lore ideas that I enjoyed reading, and made sense.

What I will say is that I would love to play as a Worgen on Alliance as we don’t really have a beast like race like the Horde do. So long as they can integrate them into the lore well I think it should be interesting.

I think the worgen would be more of a Horde race because in the lore it is rumored that the people of Gilneas (The area below Silverpine Forest) were turned into Worgen and then that could be their starting place........(what in the hell would their mount be?)

See everything I've read on the lore sets the Worgen to be Alliance because of Gilneas actually. These people were of the Alliance, and maybe they've changed and want to re-align themselves with what they used to be. Also the goblins are more integrated with the Horde than they are with the Alliance, so it's easier to see them being the possible new Horde race.

I have the link to the WoW.com article above, and there's also a good article on Lorecrafted here: http://www.lorecrafted.com/

Yes but Gilneas is directly linked to Silverpine which is a Horde area and if they were Alliance then the horde would just camp them at the gate, and the people of Gilneas also rejected the Alliance during one the wars

Actually if you look at the history of Gilneas, it was an Alliance area even after the second war. Greymane built the wall in order to protect his kingdom from "other people's troubles" and not even the Scourge were able to penetrate the Greymane Wall. Nobody really knows what has happened to the kingdom of Gilneas since they were locked away from the world.
Check out the WoWWiki article :) http://www.wowwiki.com/Gilneas Just because Silverpine is a Horde territory now doesn't mean that it would affect Gilneas considering that wall hasn't been penetrated and could easily be guarded if it's opened up.
