In a service you pay for you don’t expect to be hit with a deluge of ads but get ready because in the next year, that is what you are going to get. Microsoft announced in Cannes last week that Silverlight ads will be shown on Xbox Live “within the next year”.

“By extending support to technologies like Silverlight, Xbox Live will offer advertisers and creative designers scale and reach with their campaign creative assets, enabling them to build and deliver interactive, interconnected experiences that are unlike anything else on television, and extend these experiences across multiple screens – the TV, the PC, and Mobile,” said the firm.

I pay good money not to get my dashboard swamped with ads. I mean, there are already some ads there, like one for Axe, amongst others that have cycled through. And if ads pop up while my game is loading, I'm not going to be very happy. I'd like to know more on how this is going to be implemented & how annoying its going to become.
