    Disney to make new Diary of Anne Frank film

    Disney has announced that they have the rights to make a new film based on the Diary of Anne Frank. Writer David Mamet, has been brought on board to take on the project. Variety reports: Mamet will use the famed diary, and the original play by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich, to tell the story of the young jewish girl who hid with her family from the Nazis in the an attic in Amsterdam. Mamet brings his own original take on the material that could re-frame the story as a young girl’s rite of passage.

    Hello Kitty Three Apples Exhibit for 35th Anniversary

    We’ve almost seen Hello Kitty on everything. The red bow wearing kitty has become a style icon and a favorite at many here at GamingAngels. This year is her 35th Anniversary and just one of the celebrations is the “Three Apples” exhibition that will celebrate all things Hello Kitty and feature collaborations from many top Comic-con artists and exhibitors. “Three Apples” will take place from October 23 to November 15 at Royal/T (www.royal-t.org) in Culver City, CA. We’ve covered Royal/T here at GA before. It’s the Japanese-inspired art space that also has a maid cafe. For this event, there will be works of art, Hello Kitty shaped food and ability to purchase limited edition products made just for this event. You know I’ll be going.     Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Trading Card Game “Turbo Packs”

    Turbo packs are the newest version of Tournament and Champion packs. These are packaged and given out as participation prizes at tournaments held in card shops. The cards were chosen online, and players had a say in what they wanted to see in the new packs. This Pack is the final result. Turbo Packs will have foil versions of cards that were available only as non-foil commons or rares. This set has 20 cards, including one Ultra Rare, four Super Rares, six Rares, and nine Commons. It has been mentioned that additional surprises might have been included. Qualified stores will have been able to put their orders in for these new packs starting August 10th, so keep on the lookout for them at any tournament!

    Playstation Home gets a batcave and other updates

    Playstation Home is getting a ton of updates and Playstation blog has all the details. The best update comes when gamers purchase a copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum for the Playstation 3, they unlock a Batcave Outpost personal space. Yes, you’re very own Batcave. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will have launching parties in their space every Monday night from 6-10pm PT. There will also be some MotorStorm clothes for a limited time. One of the creepier things going on in Playstation Home is the Criss Angel: Mindfreak promotion. By visiting the Criss Angel: Mindfreak video in the new 10-screen theater, visitors can get a Criss Angel coffin table for your room in Playstation Home. This promotion starts on Sunday the 16th. There is also a real life giveaway for 1 of 2 Criss Angel: Mindfreak Coffins and 1 of 3 Criss Angel: Burn DVD’s and Book sets (5 winners total).

    BioWare have announced the Dragon Age: Origins Collector’s Edition and the pre-order program. The Collector’s Edition will be available in limited quantities and will have a unique steel case, cloth map of the word of Dragon Age, a Making-of documentary DVD, a digital version of the soundtrack, game trailers, wallpapers, strategy tips and a concept art video. Those that pick up the CE will also get three exclusive downloadable items that will give the player an advantage. The Collector’s Edition price is set for $74.99 (console) and $64.99 (PC). Any version of Dragon Age: Origins includes two pieces of downloadable content.     Halo: Evolutions Announced by Tor and Microsoft

    Tor books is expanding their Halo book series with the newly announced Halo: Evolutions. This book will include tales from Halo novelists Eric Nylund and Tobias Buckell, as well as newcomer Karen Traviss. There will also be stories from other bestselling authors along with the writers and creators of Halo themselves, including Robt McLees of Bungie, LLC. “There are so many interesting and exciting playgrounds that are spawning from every HALO offering,” says Eric Raab, Tor editor. “This is a great chance to watch writers have some fun with these areas and expand on some of the unexplored mythos and characters, while at the same time creating new ones as well. Think of the short story collection as a new litter of Halo stories, each excitingly unique.” Halo: Evolutions is set to be released in November 2009 along with an unabridged audio book.

    New Logo and screenshots for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

    Silent Hill: Shattered Memories now has a new logo and Konami has sent some scary screenshots. The title is due out this fall for the Wii, Playstation 2, and PSP. In Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, players will follow Harry Mason who is looking for his daughter, Cheryl. Harry will have to deal with some creatures while he’s trying to find her though.

    It appears we are going to be a little Hello Kitty gadget obsessed her at Gaming Angels.com for a little while. For the next little while I plan on highlighting all the cools pieces of technology that Hello Kitty has been a part of.
