    Halo 3: ODST tour starting August 22

    Microsoft and Bungie have just announced the “Halo 3:ODST” tour to various GameStop locations across the US giving you an early look at the game. The tour launches this Saturday, August 22 in Redmond, Washington with Xbox Live’s Major Nelson and Bungie. The event will start at noon and end around 8pm. Fans will get to play Firefight multiplayer mode and win Halo swag for showing off their skills. The tour will actually be in a Transport Vehicle that is made from a M820A2 expandable truck. It’s 27 feet long and 14 feet wide when full expanded. Which means alot of Halo 3: ODST goodness. The truck will have eight console rigs featuring Halo 3: ODST.     Marvel done with “crappy” movie-based games

    The executive vice president of digital media for Marvel, Ira Rubenstein said in an interview with Joystiq that Marvel is finished with making “crappy” movie-based games. They want to have games tied to the release of movies but each character will stay in his/her own world, as in X-men Origins: Wolverine. He used the latest Marvel tie in title to show what the company wants to do. “We are not doing movie-based games anymore,” said Rubenstein. “Actually, wait … we are not doing crappy movie-based games anymore. You can quote me on that.”

    Madden players are more Passionate & Knowledgable Football fans

    The University of Oregon’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center did a Madden Football IQ study to look at how fans of Madden NFL interact with the sport of football. The results shouldn’t surprise anyone. They found that fans of Madden NFL are not only more knowledgeable about the game of football, but also more avid, devoted fans. “For the second year, we delved into the relationship that the Madden NFL game forges with real football, and the study proved that it runs very deep. Madden NFL fans are not only extremely knowledgable about the game of football, they are equally as passionate,” said Paul Swangard, Managing Director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon. “Twenty-one years of the Madden NFL franchise has created a smarter and more devoted football fan.” The study surveyed more than 9,000 EA Sports Madden NFL players.     Final Fantasy XIII gets simultaneous 360 and PS3 release

    The producer of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII, Yoshinori Kitase, has stated at GamesCom that the game will be released on both the PS3 and 360 simultaneously. “We don’t have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it’s scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territories it’s spring 2010,” he told VG247. “For Europe and North America, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously.” “For previous titles it took usually about a year to localise each version and bring it over to Europe,” he added. “But for this title there should be a considerably shorter gap and we’ll bring it to European territories as close to the North American release as possible.”

    Future announces World of Warcraft the Magazine

    Who says magazines are dead? Future has announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to create World of Warcraft: The Magazine. It will be the official magazine for World of Warcraft. The magazine will be at BlizzCon 2009 for attendees to check out. It will launch in English, French, German, and Spanish and will be available only as a $39.95 subscription for one year or two years at $69.95. Gamers can also buy directly from World of Warcraft the Magazine. The first issue will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the release of World of Warcraft. Looking back on how the game has evolved and where it’s going. There will also be guild strategies for raids and tactics from top guilds.     Zombies Wander into WalMart

    Over the past 36 hours, PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies has arrived on store shelves throughout North America, including Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Apple Stores and Amazon.com, and are headed toward Sam’s Club, OfficeMax and Office Depot in October. “Plants vs. Zombies sold more briskly in its first 90 days of online availability than any previous game we’ve published, including Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled Twist, Bookworm Adventures and Peggle Nights,” noted Ben Rotholtz, vice president of Marketing at PopCap. “In fact, our family-friendly zombie game now accounts for nine of the ten biggest-grossing single sales days in PopCap’s ten-year history, which is quite a feat given that the Bejeweled and Zuma franchises have sold more than 40 million units between them.” On the heels of that announcement, PopCap today also announced that Plants vs. Zombies is being adapted for the iPhone and iPod touch, and is expected to become available for

    Ubisoft announced Just Dance today at GamesCom exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. the title will be out for this holiday season.
