Blizzard working on adding “pseudo LAN” to StarCraft II

The petitions have been passed around and signed by hundreds of thousands of gamers that are upset by the previous announcement of no LAN support for StarCraft II. While Blizzard was standing by the company line of supporting Battle.net, it seems that Greg Canessa has stated that they are now working on a LAN-like solution. Speaking to Shacknews, Canessa said, “We are working on solutions with regard to things we can do to maintain connectivity to Battle.net in some way, but also provide a great quality connection between players.” Asked whether the solution might include a pseudo-LAN connection, where the game might check for Battle.net authentication first, the developer replied, “Something like that… Maintaining a connection with Battle.net, I don’t know if it’s once or periodically, but then also having a peer-to-peer connection between players to facilitate a very low-ping, high-bandwidth connection.. those are the things that we’re working on.” Follow

Razer headphones a great find at Blizzcon

Being someone who chats on Skype and talks in vent quite a bit for WoW, I tend to get a lot of uses out of a headset. And I need something that will be comfortable to wear for when I have to do a four hour (or longer) raid, sit in on a meeting or record a podcast for Lit Angels. So when I first put on the headset that accompanied the game demos at Blizzcon, I was in awe with how comfortable they were and decided to do some investigating into where I could acquire said headphones. From the logo on the side I immediately recgonized that they were by Razer, makers of gaming accessories for PC gamers. So I made a point to stop by the Razer booth on the show floor to see which headphones these were. As it turns out they were either the Megalodon 7.1

    Guild changes coming in Cataclysm

Guilds will have some new things to look forward to with the new expansion as well. As mentioned in the initial announcement for Cataclysm, guilds will have a new leveling system as well as guild talents. Blizzard later elaborated on this new system in a later panel, and what they have in store is quite interesting. In Cataclysm, you will have the ability to help gain experience by doing daily quests, participating in battlegrounds and downing bosses in raids which in turn will allow you to level up your guild. Right now levels only go up to 20, but I’m sure it takes quite a bit to get there. What does leveling up do towards helping out the guild? Well as you level you will be able to put points into guild talents which will give benefits to guild members such as cheaper repair bills and even mass resurrections, both

Jewish Mommy blogger gets upset over receiving Wolfenstein in the mail

Jessica Gottlieb, a Jewish mommy blogger, wrote a stinging blog post last night about Activision’s latest title, Wolfenstein. Turns out this Jewish mommy blogger received a copy from Activision to review or giveaway. Only they probably didn’t think about who they were giving it to. “Activision Corners the White Pride Market” is the title of her piece where she explains how she opened up the game to find out that in multiplayer, one team is fighting the Nazis while the other team is pretending to be them. In her blog, she describes her shock with the title as she got more enraged seeing a screenshot where she saw a shot of a Swastika. As a whole Jessica states she understands how games showcase the battle of good versus evil and even understands that there is a place for violent games. She’s just angry that Activision sent her a copy. “If

PS3 Motion Control coming next Spring

SCE Worldwide President, Kaz Hirai has confirmed that the PS3′s motion control system is set to launch in spring next year. Kaz told the Times that Sony required some “great software” in order for a successful launch. “We are slating it for spring of next year,” he told The Times. “One of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.” In other PS3 news, NPD is taking the not so big jump by stating that the new slimline PS3 with the price cut should boost sales by 60 percent in the US. Thank you Mr and Mrs. Obvious. “The $299 price point is important to getting to a point where the next segment of price-conscious consumers can jump into the market and it

GamesCom was huge and it wasn’t just the announcements

GamesCom was huge this year and that’s not just because of the announcements. But in terms of announcements GamesCom was huge as well. I can’t remember the last time I stayed up until 4am watching a live blog or watching information come pouring through the wire so I can write about it, but also just to know as a fan of gaming. GamesCom has the industry’s support and it showed. Over 245,000 visitors came to Koelnmesse from August 19-23 to try out the games by 458 companies from 31 countries. Oliver P. Kuhrt, managing director of Koelnmesse GmbH: “The gamescom premiere ran splendidly. We are very happy with the enthusiastic response of both exhibitors and visitors. This has established gamescom as a leading trade fair straight away.” Olaf Wolters, managing director of the BIU in his summary: “We are very proud of the premiere of gamescom. It fulfilled all our
