First Look: Diablo III

By: stealthyslyth

monkWhen the Monk was revealed as the new Diablo III class it received many cheers from the fans at Blizzcon. As a Diablo fan myself, I anxiously awaited my chance to get hands on with this class. Once I did I have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed. The mechanics run smoothly, but the class mainly has only AOE attacks and has to be right up in front of an enemy to do any damage. It was weird that as a person who has some kind of magical ability he has no kind of ranged attack, not even a focused ball of energy he can shoot from his staff.

Not to say that the class itself is bad, since it really isn’t. The Monk is a pretty powerful character and I think that there will be some people who highly enjoy playing as one. However I felt that as of what I was able to play at Blizzcon, the Monk has more buildup and not much by way of delivery. All in all I have to say that out of the classes I was able to play at Blizzcon, the Monk was my least favorite. I would have to say that I enjoyed playing the wizard more.
