First Look: Starcraft II

hyperionbridgeHaving not been able to play any Starcraft II demos yet, I think this was the one demo I was pumped to play. Once I had the chance to get to a station, I just wanted to sit and try my luck against the computer and see if I still had any of my old Starcraft skills. I was amazed with how smoothly the flow of the game went and how beautiful the graphics have become. The other great part was the fact that the AI has become a lot smarter than what I remember them. This surprised me so that the first time I tried to build up my base, I realized I had not built enough defenses and the computer advanced a lot farther than I. So I tried again and did better, but the Zerg still stomped me.

The single player campaign mode looked fun as well. We were given a couple of mission to choose between as well as some funds to buy some upgrades. The one unfortunate side of playing the single player campaign was trying to race the timer that was on the demo. It only allowed you a certain amount of time before it ended the game and said “Thanks for playing!” The only way to get some good game time in was to skip all of the cut scenes. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more about Starcraft II and a more specific release date soon!
