World of Warcraft Magazine

Who says magazines are dead? Future has announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to create World of Warcraft: The Magazine. It will be the official magazine for World of Warcraft.

The magazine will be at BlizzCon 2009 for attendees to check out. It will launch in English, French, German, and Spanish and will be available only as a $39.95 subscription for one year or two years at $69.95. Gamers can also buy directly from World of Warcraft the Magazine.

The first issue will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the release of World of Warcraft. Looking back on how the game has evolved and where it’s going. There will also be guild strategies for raids and tactics from top guilds.

Julian Rignall, Editorial Director of World of Warcraft: The Magazine, added:

“We’re bringing together an international team of player-writer experts to create in-depth articles about World of Warcraft’s design, art, lore and community, as well as all aspects of its gameplay. It’s really important that our magazine articulates multiple player perspectives, so that the editorial offers balanced – and sometimes even opposing – points of view on winning strategies and tactics”

It will be an interesting experiment to see how WoW fans react. After already paying a subscription to play the game, will they fork over more money for a magazine when they are used to getting their information online?
