We love, love and love IndieCade here at GamingAngels.com. That’s why I’m so excited to have more details about the upcoming International Festival of Independent Games taking place this October 1-4, 2009 in Culver City, CA. IndieCade 2009 will have 30 independent games selected from hundreds of entries. The International Festival of Independent Games is the only independent gaming event open to the US public.

Today they have announced a few of the finalists which come from all areas of interactive media, art to commercial, ARG to abstract, and serious to shooter. Finalists being announced today include “Papermint” from Avaloop in Austria, “Moon Stories” by Daniel Benmergui from Chile and “Gray” by Mike Boxleiter & Greg Wohlwend of the United States.

“IndieCade continues to nurture and attract the fringe talent that is paving the future of game development,” says Sam Roberts, IndieCade Festival Director. We’re anticipating the best festival ever thanks to a tremendous roster of participants and amazing support from Culver City.”

The festival starts on October 1 and runs through October 4. There will be a gala opening night event “The IndieCade Happening” from 6-10pm at the Royal/T (another favorite GA spot!) hosted by Richard Lemarchand (Naughty Dog).

The hands-on will run in three Culver City locations: Wonderful World of Art Gallery, Culver Hotel Mezzanine and Gregg Fleishman Gallery daily from 11:00am to 7:00pm daily. I’m willing to do a tour together if anyone else from GA is going.

A conference schedule is also being offered as part of Indiecade. Each day will have a theme:
Friday – October 2 Emotional Depth and Challenging Topics
Saturday – October 3 Art and Innovation
Sunday – October 4 Aspiring Gamemakers Young and Old

You can find the full conference schedule at IndieCade.org

Tickets for IndieCade range from $20 for day of hands-on to $275 for the full festival/conference pass. Maybe sure to go to the website to purchase and for more details.

We are official sponsors of IndieCade and will be bringing you interviews, news and video from the event!

Woooow, I love the IndieCade, seriously. However, that IS a lot to pay to get the full experience of the show. I'll just have to work hard and get into the show myself... ;D~Meg

...and oops I'm sorry...the conference pass is $235 for advance registration, $290 for the full premium pass that gets you into all the parties! There's also a $150 one-day conference pass. So lots of options. Again, thanks for your support!

Thanks for your support you guys! This is awesome. Just to be clear, the FESTIVAL exhibition tickets are only $20 for a one-day pass $50 for a four-day pass. The $275 is for the conference which has a lot of session tracks and keynotes and such and is comparable to other small conferences such as Games for Change. We tried to keep the festival price down to allow as many people as possible to see the games!
