Mass Effect 2

Released today from EA at GamesCom, we get more plot details and a trailer for Mass Effect 2.

Gamers will take the role of Commander Shepard as they command their crew “on a suicide mission in space”. As gamers select their squad this will have an impact on the story and the squad’s chances for survival. The mission is to discover why humans are vanishing from the galaxy.

“The Mass Effect trilogy is an epic saga with consequences that will carry through from chapter to chapter” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, GM and CEO BioWare, VP EA. “Building out a diverse and loyal party is one of the features that makes the Mass Effect series unique. “The characters Commander Shepard recruits are not only pivotal to the storyline but essential to the players overall success.”

The new character revealed today is the “Grunt”. The Grunt has never been defeated and can be an asset to Commander Shepard’s team if he can be trusted. Grunt is the second character to be announced. Thane, the deadly assassin was announced in June.

More details of Shepard’s crew will be revealed in the next few months. Mass Effect 2 is set for a early 2010 release on the 360 and PC.
