Next week I’ll be on my way to Anaheim to attend Blizzcon 2009, and I know that this is going to be one heck of a convention! Between the announcements that are bound to be made, panels and a concert from the Prince of Darkness, I know I will have a blast. But what should we expect from Blizzard? There have been all kinds of rumblings in the WoW community with regards to Cataclysm, the suspected next expansion as well as the possibly leaked new races players will be able to choose from. There was also the sad announcement that Starcraft II has been pushed back to the first half of 2010.

Admittedly, I’m more of a Warcraft player, so I’ve had my ear to the ground mainly for those news items and rumors. The guesses on what the next expansion may be and include are some of the hottest topics right now. Most people, if not all are already calling the next expansion “Cataclysm” and have for the most part agreed that it will most likely take us into the Maelstrom and involve the Emerald Dream. This is interesting as venturing into the Emerald Dream will expand on the lore regarding Druids, which for those who love their Druids is a very exciting prospect.

The other hot topic has been the possible leak of the two new races that may be released with the expansion: Worgen (for the Alliance) and Goblins (for the Horde). This has been analyzed by lore fans with regards to how the lore would work for integrating the new races, as well as bemoned as another nail in the coffin for some WoW players. Some have even said that they will stop playing if this rumor proves to be true. I personally think that this may have a chance at being true, but I also feel that this could also very well have been placed as a red herring to hide a different announcement they’re planning to make. In any case, with regards to both of these hot items, I know that we’ll be hearing some big announcements with regards to the next expansion come next Friday.

I’m also interested to hear more on what’s going on with Starcraft II and Diablo III. Aside from the delayed game announcement for Starcraft II, I haven’t heard too many big things coming out for those games. But just as with WoW I’m sure that I will be hearing more next Friday when more shall be revealed to all of us! So what is everyone else looking forward to hearing coming out of Blizzcon?
