VIZ brings out 2 new Sci-Fi novels

Last month our wonderful staff member Yukino reviewed two novels under the VIZ Media imprint HAIKASORU: “All You Need Is Kill” by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and “Lord of the Sands of Time” by Issui Ogawa. We’ve received word that today (15th September, 2009) two new books are out, and have received some good reviews from fellow authors Brian Keene (author of The Rising) and Paul Levinson (author of The Plot To Save Socrates). Brian Keene has described the first novel, ZOO written by Otsuichi, as “haunting, emotional, and thoroughly engrossing”. ZOO reveals the story of a man who receives a photo of his girlfriend everyday in the mail. Problem is it isn’t a happy snap, but rather a progress check of how her body is decomposing. It also reveals the deathtrap that takes a week to kill it’s victims, a child with the power to do whatever he likes, and the

    Guest First Look: WET

Excited to get WET (See what I did there?), I rushed to XBL Marketplace to give company “Artifical Mind and Movement” my time of day. I hadn’t read too much about WET, but I knew it was backed by a few Hollywood renowned such as Eliza Dushku, Alan Cumming, and the man McDowell himself. Besides, I usually enjoy demo hunting for future titles because I enjoy wetting my palette with desirability. I want to be “WOWed” without ogling the whole package. Much like everyone beckoned, I was supposedly expected to feel slightly amused, disgusted, and in awe—the way Tarantino would have me feel and initially, WET looked promising because it looked different yet familiar. In short, I was hardly impressed if not slightly embarrassed and a wee-bit confused. Don’t get me wrong, WET has all the ingredients for a game well-worth a play through but I’m thoroughly questioning the preparation

EA announced today a new title in the Skate franchise, Skate 3. The title is confirmed for May 2010. “The social and community aspects of the SKATE franchise are something we’ve always embraced, but we’ve never done anything to the scale you’re going to see in SKATE 3,” said Senior Producer, Jason DeLong. “We’re giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends. Zune HD now does gaming

Microsoft has confirmed today that the Zune HD will have gaming abilities on it. “Later this year, Zune plans to release free applications such as Twitter for Zune and Facebook for Zune, in addition to fun 3D games such as Project Gotham Racing: Ferrari Edition, Vans Sk8: Pool Service and Audiosurf Tilt,” a press release read. “Games can be added to Zune HD via Zune Marketplace over the wi-fi connection or when connected to the Zune PC software.” Microsoft is not yet going to open the Zune Marketplace to third parties. In this way it still won’t compete with the iPhone/iPod as a gaming device. “So what we didn’t want to do was build two parallel app store experiences that didn’t work together,” Microsoft’s Zune marketing manager Brian Seitz told The Seattle Times. “Right now our product roadmaps didn’t line up perfectly for us to snap to what they’re doing
