    Lord of the Rings: Siege of Mirkwood to launch December 1st

    Today Turbine announced that the next expansion for Lord of the Rings Online will go live December 1st in North America! Along with the expansion Siege of Mirkwood, there will also be LOTRO Adventurer’s Pack which will be released as a companion and include various essentials that players will need to survive Mirkwood.     Left 4 Dead Crash Course DLC hits Live

    Left 4 Dead’s Crash Course DLC campaign is now up on Xbox Live. Originally it was priced at 800 Microsoft points but has since been corrected to 560 Microsoft Points. Hopefully you didn’t buy it until after the change. Here’s some information on the DLC: Left 4 Dead’s Crash Course starts with our Survivors right after their rescue helicopter from the No Mercy campaign crash lands on the outskirts of town.     Beginning today, Fable II: Game Episodes is now available on Xbox Live and Games on Demand.     True Games opens new dev studio in Austin

    True Games Interactive announced a brand new studio in Austin, Texas. The new studio will be working on a game in development that is based on online free-to-play content via micro-transactions. “We are thrilled to announce the formation of our new development studio,” said Bob Drobish, Co-Founder and CEO of True Games Interactive. “This new studio will allow us to have more direct control and involvement in the development process of our games which is critical when you are developing new IP.” The new studio is currently building it’s team.     Eighty Six Percent of UK girls play games

    A study released today by 2009 UK National Gamers Survey shows the Britain has more online and console gamers than anywhere else in Europe. Of those polled, 73% said they regularly play games more than surfing the web or watching tv. While the study found that young men between the ages of 13-19 spend 11 hours a week playing games, the findings also show that 86% of girls play games as well! They don’t clarify the age bracket for girls, but go on to say that 42% of people over the age of 50 say they enjoy playing games more than reading magazines. The study also reveals that social games, like the ones on Facebook, have yet to take off in the UK with only 11% playing games on social networks.     ‘Mouse Guard’ Creator, David Peterson touring through So Cal

    David Peterson will be on a whirlwind tour through Southern California for five days where he’ll meet with fans and provide autographs. David will be at Long Beach Comic Con signing a limited number of exclusive prints each day (October 2-4). Those that may not be familiar with David Peterson’s works, he created Mouse Guard: Winter 1152 and Mouse Guard: Fall 1152. The first stop will be at Comickaze in San Diego on September 30 and Secret Headquarters in Los Angeles on October 1st. At Long Beach Comic Con, David will be at the Archaia Booth (#265) as well as their panel on Saturday, October 3 from 11 to 11:45 in room B.
