Leaked documents discuss PSN and PS3 Motion Control
(Allegedly) leaked documents that MCVUK got a hold of state some very interesting things if they were true.
The leaked documents have interesting details about the Playstation 3 Motion Controller demoed at E3 this year.
Motion Controller
• Spring 2010 launch (March in JP)
• No bundle/pricing details yet, should come Sept 1
• Plan on selling 4-5MM units WW
• SCEA agreed to provide a list of Sega IP that would work well with the motion controller, Virtua Tennis was an example
• Motion Controller support allows easy way to differentiate PS3 SKU
• Other differentiation opportunities include PSP/PS3 interoperability – think of features that would make users want to buy both PS3 and PSP SKUs.
The actual date of March in Japan for the peripheral is new information. Virtua Tennis was used as an example of a game that would work with the Motion controller.
Perhaps most interesting to Playstation 3 owners is that the document discusses more news about Playstation Network.
First Sony plans on bringing the entire PS2 back-catalog to Playstation Network. This should make gamers that have complained about missing out on backwards capability happy.
The other is news about bringing SEGA games to PSN in particular import games. Again, this is a document that seems to have leaked that was between SEGA and Sony. No confirmation has been made about the documents or if the deal will happen.
The document says SEGA “could put Japanese games directly on PSN for download in a special Japanese Import section (pricing $9.99 to $39.99 for full game)”. Mention is made of the Yakuza series and what they may need to do for localizing menus.
Again this is all off a leaked document right now, which we generally don’t put up, but it has so much interesting information, we thought you might enjoy hearing about it.
