Square Enix boss says new Wii is just two years away

Wii

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada is already putting the prediction out there that Nintendo will release a new Wii Console in 2011.

In an interview with The Financial Times, Wada stated that the Wii 2 will incorporate features seen in the Xbox 360 and PS3, particularly HD output.

He also predicts that there will be a new controller as well. Wada also believes that Xbox 360 and PS3 motion technology probably won’t provide a large boost in sales for either machine.

“Present game machines already have a lot of functions,” he explained. “They are a network terminal, a Blu-ray or DVD player, and a gaming machine. Compared to these three pillars, the new motion controllers are quite limited, so the impact may be small.”
