Inspiration from the Maria Shriver Women’s Conference 2009

This is my second year covering one of the most inspiring conventions I attend, the Women’s Conference in Long Beach, CA. Maria Shriver has used her time as First Lady to create an event that not only makes an impact on individuals, but has made an impact economically and socially. As part of the Women’s Conference, Maria Shriver has created the WE (describe We program briefly) and the Minverva awards, recognizing women that have (explanation) . The event is a two-day event with an added Day of Transformation this year. The Day of Transformation is a full day conference to help women learn skills to be a business leader in their community. The night event, Night at the Village, has speakers covering the following topics, cooking, mind, body & soul, and author interviews. The floor has various businesses reaching out to women. Everything from (wine company) who sells bottles of

    Guest Preview: Dante’s Inferno

Let me begin a small prelude to this preview: No, I won’t be saying anything about the way EA is campaigning Dante’s Inferno. Personally, I think it’s very unique, and it’s accomplishing what it’s trying to accomplish: gaining a lot of public and media attention. Now that all of you hate me, I’ll start the preview. I had the privilege of playing the demo of EA’s Dante’s Inferno at GameX in Philadelphia this past weekend (October 23rd-25th). The game’s target release date is Februrary 9, 2010. Dante’s Inferno the game is loosely, and I mean very loosely, based on the medieval poem written by Dante Alighieri’s called “The Inferno”. Electronic Arts was demonstrating a portion of the Lust level of the game. Why they chose Lust at an event that families were definitely going to be attending, I will never know. It certainly felt awkward fighting the Lust boss, Cleopatra

Breast Cancer Awareness Not Welcome in Forza 3

In this day and age, one would like to believe that they are doing good by promoting and supporting a cause such as breast cancer, especially during breast cancer awareness month. Unfortunately, an Xbox Live user’s “Save the Ta Tas” Susan G Komen bumper sticker which was selling in the Auction House/Store Front for the newly released Forza 3 ended up in the user being banned for violating the Xbox Live terms of service. And it wasn’t even the Xbox team that banned him, it was the fellows at Turn10, the game’s developer. This logo is available to buy on Amazon, is on t-shirts, bumper stickers, keychains, magnets, socks. You name it, its on it. Breasts are a part of the human anatomy and the word is a commonly used one. Everyone sees them, they stick out from our shirts. But for some reason this word is censored from use

Halloween costume recommendations from the Gaming Angels

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday of the year, and planning my costume tends to start about a year in advance! And I’m not alone as my fellow staffer Rachel enjoys it as well!  So if you’re stuck on what to be this year, or even looking to plan for next year we have put together some lists on some costumes! Rachel’s video game costume recommendations Alyx Vance (Half-Life) – Alyx was developed as a very identifiable character, and that comes across on the ease of her outfit. Grab some jeans and boots, which everyone should have. For her top, a simple grey sweatshirt with a black design on it works. Her jacket is a bit harder to find, but all you’d need is a dark brown heavy duty work jacket, accessorized with ductape on the right shoulder. Wear your hair back with a headband, throw on a necklace, and
