    Featured Interview – Games That Give!

    A few weeks ago, a new site that makes it simple and convenient for casual gamers to give back simply by playing some of their favorite kinds of games caught my attention. It’s called GamesThatGive.net and it just launched this summer, offering people who play casual games at any level for any amount of time a great way to become more socially responsible and give back.     Wizard World Anaheim confirms guests for April event

    It’s never too early to start planning for con season. Which is why Wizard World Anaheim is gearing up to provide a fun comic book convention experience in Southern California.     Star Trek Online Closed beta test starts October 22

    Atari and Cryptic Studios have announced that Star Trek Online will enter its Closed Beta phase on October 22, 2009. The upcoming mmo will finally be open to fans that want to try it out. “We’re pleased to begin sharing our addition to Star Trek’s legendary story with the public,” said Craig Zinkievich, Executive Producer of Star Trek Online. “We know fans of Star Trek, and fans of MMOs, will be incredibly impressed by what they see when they play Star Trek Online.” In the game, Star Trek Fans will be able to create their own unique alien races, outfit and captain ships and battle some of the more famous races in the Star Trek Universe.     Hulu to start charging in 2010

    Enjoy Hulu for free while you can because according to an article on EW, News Corp Deputy Chairman Chase Carey spoke at an industry event and stated that Hulu will not be free starting in 2010. Carey told reporters that a subscription model is likely, although some content may continue to be free of charge. “I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content. I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value,” he said.     Ignition announces Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii

    Ignition teased on Twitter and Facebook about a new game announcement and we have the press release that tells us the exact details.     Sid Meier is setting out to takeover Facebook with the free-to-play Civilization Network some time next year.     Vempire available for PSP and PSPgo

    For gamers looking for a title that will put them in the Halloween mood, Impressionware is releasing Vempire for the PSP and PSPgo. Vempire (Vampire + Empire) is a casual puzzle game with some strategy. It’s based on “match 3″ but then adds a collecting aspect. Luigi Fumero, Impressionware’s managing director and VEMPIRE designer, said: “We are very happy with the reception VEMPIRE received so far. Many people are enjoying it and sales are in line with expectations. The game is out in North America too now which makes it available everywhere the minis channel is present.
