Gus Van Sant and Bret Easton team up on Suicide film

Gus Van Sant and author Bret Easton Ellis will be teaming up to write a script about the double suicide of artists Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake. The script will be based on the Golden Suicides article featured in Vanity Fair in January 2008.

Duncan and Blake were a couple that did films as well as video games. Theresa was best known for her work on CD-Rom game, Chop Suey and her husband was a digital artist and graphic designer at Rockstar.

The Vanity Fair story is almost unbelievable. The tale of how the two met, how they fell in love and the passion they had for art and each other. But there are dark moments too. Reports of the couple becoming paranoid and thinking that Scientologists were out to ruin their career.

Theresa killed herself in 2007 and Blake could not recover. A week later, Blake walked into the Atlantic Ocean, ending his life.

“I am going to join the lovely Theresa,” Blake, 35, had written on the back of a business card, which he left on the beach, along with his clothes.
