Mrs. Brady goes tech and starts “Floh Club” service for older Adults
The Brady Bunch mom is now taking on technology and wants to empower older adults to do the same thing. Florence Henderson is launching The Floh Club, which is a solely telephone based support service.
“It’s like roadside assistance, but for your computer,” said Florence Henderson.
Many of us have experience supporting tech for our older relatives who didn’t grow up with it like we did. Teaching my mom to do email on the pc was so difficult. Now she has an iphone and she sends me email constantly. Which is both good and bad. But overall, help desk is about empowering the user so that they feel more comfortable using technology.
The Floh Club, has tech experts that are available by phone between 8am and 2am EST. They do everything from teaching how to use instant messenger, email, pc software, to support for printers and other peripherals.
The Floh Club runs on an annual subscription ($250/year), three months ($75), or one time service ($50).
“I know how overwhelming technology can be. Only recently have I learned to share photos, video conference and send emails,” Henderson said. “I’m genuinely excited to help make technology easier for people like me through THE FLOH CLUB,” she added.
A service like this could definitely be a help to older tech users. Subscriptions can be gifted too. The site itself is pretty slim. No forums or discussion, but Florence Henderson is blogging about her experience with tech which might be inspiring to other users.
Here’s a video of Florence Henderson describing the new service:
I hope they have chosen good tech support people and not outsourced it. Nothing can make a tech frustration worse than a bad technician on the line.
