San Diego Comic Con 2010 already selling out

I don’t know really what to think about this. San Diego Comic Con is already close to selling out it’s four day passes. Last month, SDCC sold out of the four day passes with preview night and now have 25% left of regular four day passes. This year is my eleventh year attending San Diego Comic Con and to say it has grown is an understatement. The crowds get bigger and bigger and it appears that SDCC has had to learn to cap it’s audience. Probably due to safety violations. It’s almost shocking to think of four day passes selling out eight months in advance of the convention. Hotels are typically listed in February or March. People could be buying a ticket to attend and have no idea if they will actually obtain a hotel room when that time comes. If you want to make sure you get a pass

Does the fall of Miramax equal death of indie?

Earlier today, I read on Kevin Smith’s twitter about the downsizing of Miramax. “It’s like hearing the house you grew up in has burned to the ground: http://tinyurl.com/yexhn85 I’ve now watched Miramax die twice. *sigh*” According to THR, Miramax president, Daniel Battsek is stepping down from the film division as of January 2010. Disney had voiced plans about trimming the size of Miramax. Which is probably why many people aren’t very surprised by this announcement. “With the change in direction at Miramax, we have reached a mutual agreement with Daniel Battsek that he will leave his post as president, effective January 2010,” Ross said. “During his 18 years of service, he has brought some prestigious and award-winning films to the studio, from ‘Calendar Girls’ to ‘The Queen’ to ‘No Country for Old Men.’ We wish Daniel the very best in his future endeavors.” The studio is not just losing dead

American McGee’s Alice gets 2011 release date

EA quietly released a trailer for American McGee’s Alice. A teaser site went live as well but it doesn’t really have anything on it. The trailer is awesome if you are an Alice fan! I just played through it twice because it surprised me and was just that awesome. The trailer also reveals the date for Alice as 2011 when she goes Back through the looking glass.

Nintendo puts style on the DS, may not help in real life

I’m always contemplating and trying to change my style. I love fashion, but what I love, I can’t afford. That’s the problem with fashion. Nintendo just released Style Savvy which puts players in the role of managing their own clothing boutique. “Style Savvy inspires players to help customers express their style and creativity, all while managing a store, including budget and inventory,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The game includes more than 10,000 clothing items, shoes and accessories, which invite endless creative possibilities.” To celebrate the launch of the game, Nintendo held a fashion challenge and runway show at JCPenny in Manhatten. Ten mother-daughter teams hit the runway to show their style. Virginia F and her daughter, Dontaya M of New York, walked away with $500 for JCPenny, gift bag from Sephora, two DSi systems, two copies of Style Savvy and clothing
