    5@5 the 1vs100 is finally back edition!

    Hi everyone! Welcome to the Thursday edition of the 5@5! I have the top five news items for you today plus, I had to fit a little Twilight: New Moon in since tonight is the opening!     New Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Boosters

    Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s fans have a lot to get excited about. Both the Stardust Overdrive booser set and the Hidden Arsenal set are now out! What’s so special about these sets? Well, Hidden Arsenal is a 30-card set that was previously unreleased in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Most of these 30 cards are coming to these countries for the first time, as they were only available in Japan until now. With this set, it will allow players better access to some newer deck types like Mist Valley and Ice Barrier. Not only are they mostly new cards, there are five foil cards per pack. The entire set consists of 15 Secret Rare cards and 15 Super Rare cards. Stardust Overdrive consists of cards from all three television shows, from the original, to GX, to the current 5D’s. Most of the monsters from 5D’s are brand-new releases as well.

    Gamers give back for Child’s Play event

    Harmonix rocks out for Ümloud! an annual fundraiser for Child’s Play Charity which is set this year at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, CA on December 9th. The event will feature a full-blown Rock Band 2 main stage where gamers can face off against each other. “Ümloud! is a great way to get the community involved in a fun charity event and give towards a great cause,” says Ümloud! co-founder Chris Kohler. “We have awesome sponsors and industry leaders involved in this event and we want you to come out and rock the night away for us in effort to raise money for children’s hospitals through Child’s Play.” Doors open at the DNA Lounge at 7pm and the party goes until 2am. MySims Kingdoms was the first title to include a story and it was easy to fall in love with MySims Kingdoms characters.     Have the time of your life 12 hours straight

    Patrick Swayze may have passed, but many films he starred in will live on as classics. This Christmas you can have the time of your life for 12 hours. That’s right, for 12 hours on the TV Guide Network, they are showing Dirty Dancing. “Sometimes a movie encapsulates a period or a moment in all of our lives in such a way that it never dies. And I think ‘Dirty Dancing’ did that,” Swayze commented in an interview featured on the film’s 20th Anniversary DVD release. Dirty Dancing fans will be able to chat on TVGuide.com to share favorite moments, watch rare cast interviews and chat about the film.     Bioshock 2 Special Edition details revealed

    2K Games have finally announced the details to the Special Edition for Bioshock 2. First thing you’ll notice is just how awesome it is and that you are going to need a record player. The Special Edition will come in 13″x13″ premium packaging with special art on both the slipcase and the box cover. On the inside will be three posters featuring vintage ads from Rupture, a vinyl 180gLP featuring the orchestral score from the original Bioshock, a CD containing Bioshock 2 score, a 164 page 8×11″ hardbound artbook, and a copy of Bioshock 2. The Special Edition can be pre-ordered now for the February 9th, 2010 release. The price is $99.99 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version and $89.99 for the Games for Windows Live version. There will only be one production run which means it’s a good chance that they’ll run out.

    Okay you all know I’m a total spaz for Edward and all things Twilight. But I’m not going to rush to see New Moon until the crowds die down. So what to do?     3D upgrade coming to PS3 and maybe charges for PSN

    A Sony presentation talking about their consumer strategy moving forward showed some interesting plans that Sony has in store for their gaming area. After showing 3D gaming at GDC and CES, Sony has confirmed that it intends to put the Playstation 3 as a 3D Games console to be used with upcoming 3D tvs. The current Playstation 3s “will be firmware upgradable to 3D”. There was also mentions of a “new revenue streams from subscription”. That’s right gamers, something may be threatening the free Playstation Network. The argument of a free online service is what Playstation fans have been using to justify the PS3 experience. But it appears that may change and there may be subscriptions coming down the line to access Sony’s top-end PSN services. [source via mcvuk]

    Dragon Age: Origins DLC details announced

    EA and Bioware have announced details for the first downloadable content available for Dragon Age: Origins. The DLC, Return to Ostagar, will be available this holiday season. It puts players on a quest to revisit Ostagar and learn the secrets of the fallen king. “We are very proud of the phenomenal launch of Dragon Age: Origins and we’re pleased to announce the next installment of downloadable content that will be available to fans of the game,” said Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager, RPG/MMO Group of EA, and Co-Founder, BioWare. “The Return to Ostagar DLC pack is a prime example of BioWare’s commitment to give fans a game that continuously offers new experiences and further enriches a storyline that has already received critical acclaim and positive feedback from the players.” Return to Ostagar will be available for 400 Bioware points on the PC, 400 MS Points on the 360.

    Dark Void being made into a movie?

    What does video game Dark Void and actor Brad Pitt have in common? Movies! That’s right, Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment is teaming up with Reliance BIG Entertainment, and Capcom to create a film based on the Dark Void video game. The movie is being created as a sci-fi action flick that may even see Brad Pitt star in it. The game is due for a January 19, 2010 North American release and European release on January 22, 2010. “As a game, Dark Void was developed with a wide-screen mentality – a world full of adventure presented in cinematic scope and scale,” said Germaine Gioia, senior vice president, licensing, Capcom Entertainment. “Plan B recognized the potential of our newest property and are as excited about bringing Dark Void to life in cinemas as Capcom is to bring the interactive experience to home theaters.” Plan B seems to be
