Duelist League for Players 14 and Under

Konami is bringing the fun of the popular trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh!  to players 14 years and younger with the Duelist’s League. The new League was revealed in August at Gen Con Indy, and it hopes to be a fun, exciting way for newer and younger players to hone their gaming skills. It is a good way to bring in new players to hobby stores and get into the game while showing these younger players and their parents how fun official, sanctioned events can be. It’s also a way for players to learn the game in a supervised environment. How will it work, you might be wondering. Participating stores can pick a time and date for a 2-hour window. It costs about $5 and each player is guaranteed a really cool prize, usually a prize card, just for participating. Upon sign-up, each player will receive 3 “Duelist tickets”. If a

    A Day With Craboom

First, let me tell you a little about Craboom. According to Squeeballs.com, Craboom was a gift to the armed forces for all their hard work. This hard working little guy carries a cannonball on his back, so he’s got to be as strong as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Don’t tell him he is cute! That’s one hell of a manly tough guy face he sports. This past weekend, Craboom was feeling a little stir crazy. He hid inside my hoodie pouch and crawled out when my fiancee and I stopped at iHop for brunch. He demanded food, so I was forced to surrender my eggnog pancakes for fear of losing my left hand. (Psst. Don’t tell him but I stole a bite when he went to the bathroom!) After brunch we all went to the park for a few hours. It was a brisk day out. People were playing with their dogs

    SIEGE 2009

Nestled in metro Atlanta, this year’s Southern Interactive Entertainment & Game Expo (lovingly known as SIEGE) was my first of many experiences to come with Georgia’s booming gaming industry. This year, the overall theme of the weekend was connections – meeting like-minded individuals, having discussions after the panels have ended, making new friends and opening up to the rest of the community. SIEGE is very much an industry event. It is put on every year by the Georgia Game Developers Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and development of the electronic and video gaming businesses and professionals in the state. Local studios such as Hi-Rez, CCP/White Wolf, Silly Monkey and Tripwire attended this year, as did representatives from the several local colleges and universities which offer game design or related industry courses. Over a 48 hour period, beginning Friday afternoon and ending Sunday afternoon, several panels and round-tables

Merlin Season 2 Episode 7 and 8 Recaps

Once again, I am back with recaps for new Merlin episodes. This time around Gaius is charged with treason against Camelot and Arthur is approached by a woman claiming to have known his mother. Episode 7 – The Witchfinder Manipulating smoke to look like a horse brings a new kind of trouble to Camelot for Merlin. A witness to the apparition notifies Uther of what she saw and he sends for Aredian, also known as the Witchfinder. The Witchfinder has worked for Uther in the past, helping to seek out sorcerers and magic creatures who the king claims are a threat to the kingdom. Aredian begins his work right away, after making sure Uther can pay and feed him for his troubles. You can tell from the moment they see each other that there is hatred between Gaius and Aredian. Perhaps Aredian was jealous of Gaius’ appointment to court physician.
