People where all up in arms about this whole "We have to pay for other races!? I am not buying that! But I am ok for paying for a song in Rock Band" I stated that we would be seeing more and more things of that nature happening in games. If we accept it for one genera, then other genera will follow. I wonder if that article made it through the site switch over. The pets are cool and all, and the whole donating money to make a wish is awesome, but honestly, they haven't outright said they're not going to branch out into things like armor and weapons and such, eventually. As it is, I know a number of the people in my guild already have them, which is both awesome for them and a hit to morale for some of my other guildies who don't have the extra $10 to get a new shiny pet. All in all I guess my thoughts are summed up as: Play the game to play the game. If your game is paying money to collect things, then do that. My game is killing monsters and taking their stuff. I think it’s pretty sad, all told.
