    Play Age of Conan Free – Forever*

    Funcom announced today that Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will be available to play for free for anyone that downloads and installs, and registers their game before January 1st, 2010.  Players will be able to enjoy all of the first 20 levels – the entire Island of Tortage experience – without ever having to upgrade to a paid account.  The Unlimited Free Trial is only going to be available as a special holiday offer until January 1st. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Age of Conan before, now is definitely your chance to take this unique MMO for a spin.

    Demo: Dante’s Inferno – Impressions

    To the curious or uninformed, “Dante’s Inferno” is actually only a fragment of a famous allegorical piece of Italian Literature known as “The Divine Comedy.” The fable is a dark, disgusting, and intriguing vision of the afterlife written by Dante Alighieri—perfect material for a rather interesting video-game, in the very least. I was excited to find out Visceral Games was behind this project, especially with a game like Dead Space under their belt however, the demo felt little more than a very, very old button masher. Obviously comparable titles would be God Of War, Heavenly Sword and yep, Devil May Cry. The visuals don’t feel bold, but rather sub-par to similar titles but they’re still pleasing. Honestly, I’m still impressed by the cinematic beauty that is Heavenly Sword and speaking from playing the DEMO, I don’t think Dante’s Inferno is really an improvement albeit the same game I’ve played a

    Time to Twist your DSi

    Bejeweled Twist makes its console debut on the Nintendo DSi today as PopCap Games continues its expansion into DSiWare.     Army of Two: The 40th Day demo dated

    EA Montreal has announced that gamers will get an earlylook at Army of Two: The 40th Day with the demo coming to Playstation Network and Xbox Live on December 17. The demo is free and everyone can download it on that day. On January 7th, the demo for the PSP will be available. “THE 40TH DAY is non-stop action in an explosive Shanghai. The game has been designed with a focus on co-op gameplay and it has been our goal to refine this core experience in all aspects of the game,” said executive producer Reid Schneider. “The demo will give players the opportunity to experience this evolution and the new co-op moves and tactics available to players at any time in the game.” There is a pre-order exclusive available which gives gamers exclusive access to the bonus multiplayer-mode ‘Extraction’ at launch.     Playstation 3 ends up with highest quality rankings in Metacritic

    Metacritic has released its 2009 Game Platform Power Rankings charts and surprisingly the Playstation 3 has come out on top. The Ranking charts are designed to pick the platform that has delivered the best quality of software over the last 12 months. The Xbox 360 was the console with the highest number of positively reviewed games, 88 titles scoring 75 or higher. Not surprisingly, the Wii had the highest number of new titles (362). The Playstation 3 was not to be outdone as it wins for console that has the overall highest quality. Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was named as the single best-rated title.

    Nintendo announces early lineup for 2010

    Nintendo announced today it’s early winter game lineup as well as the release of two new colors for its Wii remote controller. Starting on February 14 (get it valentine’s day?) the controller will come in Pink or Blue and come bundled with the Wii Motion Plus accessory. “During the holidays, tens of millions of Americans are going to spend enjoyable hours with both Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “And the enjoyment will only grow in the early weeks of 2010, whether your taste in gaming comes from exploring ocean depths, catching, training and battling Pokémon or even designing your own micro-games.” The releases on the Wii include Endless Ocean: Blue World and the Capcom fighting game, Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars.     Latest UK Game Sales Charts

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still hanging on to the top spot even with Wii Sports Resort breathing down it’s neck. The Infinity Ward title has held the top spot and it seems like it may continue to do so throughout the holidays. Assassin’s Creed II comes in at number 3 on the countdown and Wii Fit Plus moves up to number 4. FIFA 10 dropped three spots to number 5. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks enters at 12 and Left 4 Dead 2 is starting it’s rise up the charts from 14 to 13. Nintendo is the top publisher last week in the UK with 7 titles in the top 20.
