Green Day Rock Band to hit shelves in 2010
Following on the heels of the great success with The Beatles: Rock Band, MTV and Harmonix have recently released info that they have developed their second special edition of Rock Band featuring Green Day. Green Day: Rock Band is set to be released sometime in 2010 for the Xbox, PS3 and Wii.
“We’ve worked with the Rock Band team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we’re excited to now be working on a game, spanning our entire career,” Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement. “We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform onstage as Green Day.”
The game will play similar to The Beatles: Rock Band where it will put players in venues and arenas that relate to the band’s career. Unfortunately no track list has been released yet, so we can only speculate what songs and albums will be included in the game. But I will say that as a long time Green Day fan I am quite excited!

Honestly, I’m underwhelmed by the idea of another Branded Rockband (or Guitar Hero or Band Hero) game. These really should be released as DLC packs or 20$ game ad-on track disks. Annual releases are getting tired with these games. DJ Hero however was a great example of taking music games and thinking outside the box and giving gamers a refreshing way to look at the whole Music Gaming experience.
The Beatles RB was cool, Metallica GH was alright, Aerosmith (blah…), Van Halen (Van what…) and now Greenday – sorry I’m all out of teenage angst.
