As for cleaning up awards, Spike tends to not give more than 3 awards to one game. And regardless of what they say, I still think the awards are not 100% based on the votes from the website. But its better than them being judged solely by a panel of game journalists and endorsement/ad money. COD might win for graphics, but you know how the PS3 & 360 fanboys like to argue with each other over which version looked better.
