    Review: Spore Hero Arena

Rating: E Players: 1-4 Genre: Fighter/Simulator Publisher: EA Games Release Date: October 2009 RENT When I first got this game, I thought it would be an interesting, easy game. I’ve always wanted to try a Spore game, so this one seemed like a good place to start. I like the concept of the creature creator, so that was a lot of fun. One thing that really bothered me was that you can’t tell by looking at the body/base of your creature if you’re facing the front or back. The only thing that will give it away is when you put the arms and legs on, which is after you give your creature a mouth and eyes. If there’s a way to change this, I didn’t find it. There is a lot of different things you can put on your creature, like bat wings and fronds. The variety is really cool

    Nintendo reporting healthy Holiday sales

Nintendo is reporting that over the holiday season they had very good sales with the Wii system, and this does not surprise me. With the new Mario game as well as with the large amount of press that Wii Fit plus and the other workout games are getting they have had a great chance to grab the attention of the market again. The DS also received good sales with the new The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks game that was released before the holidays. “The millions of people who bought Nintendo hardware during the holidays can look forward to enjoying great games on those systems now and in the future,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for Nintendo DS, and Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Dragon Age: Origins Receives Mainstream Accessible Game of the Year Award

BioWare‘s epic RPG Dragon Age: Origins is AbleGamers.com’s 2009 pick for “Mainstream Accessible Game of the Year.” It received a 9.8/10 score for its bevy of options and graphics choices that make the game playable for gamers with disabilities. In fact, AbleGamers.com had only one criticism of the PC title (small font size), which was easily addressed by BioWare in an update. Dragon Age: Origins had the most impressive options out of any game this year, the organization said. BioWare included three levels of subtitles, gamers can pause the action during battle and issue commands on a delay instead of in real time, various control options are available for the camera and characters, and the game itself is even colorblind-friendly. The fact that all of the previous options are available and don’t hamper the gameplay is key. The accessibility options only enhance the gameplay for disabled gamers, and they don’t

5 Memorable Gaming Moments Of The Decade

Fortunately for the readers here at GamingAngels.com, I won’t mention any half-asian athletes that rhyme with “Lyger.” I won’t be talking about celebrity offspring living better than most of us ever will. I won’t be talking about the mass confusion that swarmed my brain when Obama was handed the Nobel Peace Prize after deploying 30,000 troops. Kinda makes you feel depressed, doesn’t it? For now, let’s talk pure games. 2000-2009 really evolved the gaming world; The industry became rich women gamers and developers, the quintessential “superhero” game proved it didn’t have to be forgettable, Sony learned they couldn’t rule the coop by their past alone, and concepts like ProjectNatal and OnLive turned the gears of our imagination. 2010 is here, ladies and gentleman. A new decade is upon us, but before we journey to the end of the road, there is a quintessential article to be written about the good, the
