Netflix is confirmed for Nintendo Wii this Spring

It has been speculated for quite some time that Netflix would be bringing their service to the Nintendo Wii. New York Times is reporting that Netflix is coming to the Nintendo Wii. Wii owners with a broadband Internet connection and want to pay $9-a-month subscription to Netflix’s DVD-by-mail service will be able to use the online service at no additional cost. Wii owners will have to use a disc to use the service, but that’s not a huge inconvenience. Reggie Fils-Aime said, “From Day 1, we always had other capabilities within the console,” adding that bringing Netflix to the console “is a continuation of an effort to bring more and more entertainment to consumers who interact with the Wii.” “Our growth in the last two years has been propelled in large part by our investments in streaming content and in the streaming platform,” said Reed Hastings, Netflix’s chief executive. “When

Beyoncé brings Deréon to “Style Savvy”

Beyoncé Knowles is joining forces with Nintendo once again in order to add more fashions to the DS/DSi title Style Savvy. (Their first partnership came in Beyoncé’s promotion of the game Rhythm Heaven.) The singer, who is best known for her group and solo careers, will add some of her own House of Deréon fashions to the title as downloadable add-on outfits. The fashion line was created by Knowles and her mother, Tina, in 2004. Style Savvy allows players to manage a virtual clothing boutique and put together outfits for virtual customers according to their style and budget. The addition of Knowles’ line will hopefully add more longevity to the title, which enjoyed increased holiday sales. Knowles has also taped two television spots for the game, both of which will air the week before Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards as well as during the show itself. Follow

Live Musicians score M.U.D TV soundtrack

The people at Kalypso Media (UK) and AFA Interactive have let us know about a new PC game in development called “M.U.D TV” which is due out in March 2010. In “M.U.D TV” (Mad, Ugly, Dirty Television) you play as a top TV Executive who has to nurture a troubled TV station in to a success story by raising the ratings and bringing in the advertising revenue. The game also needs music to set the mood – enter 4 musicians to compose and record a soundtrack. Musicians Johannes Semm, Boris Royko, Cornelius Ulrich and Michael Pätz composed the score as well as playing the instruments themselves and recording it in a studio. This resulted in a mixture of funk, chill out and soul music. A 5 minute medley of their efforts is available for download at www.kalypsomedia.com/downloads/mudtv-medley.zip. “M.U.D TV” is being developed by Kalypso Media’s own studio Realmforge. If you’d

Starting the Year Right: Apple’s App Store Reaches 3 Billion Downloads

Apple’s iPhone did a lot more than change the face of mobile phone gaming. It’s changed the way a lot of people look at smartphones forever. In fact, with over 50 million users and over 85,000 apps available, there’s an app for just about everything the hardware can do, and peripherals to make it do the things it can’t right out of the box. With over 125,000 developers using the platform (some of whom can actually say they’ve started coding for iPhone full-time), and more added every day, the iPhone train is headed downhill at full speed with no brakes. In the first few days of 2010, Apple announced that the App Store reached over 3 billion downloads. To put that in perspective, in the past eighteen months, an average of 64 apps were downloaded every second. With an all-but-confirmed tablet on the way and more iPods and iPhones flying

Review: Cursed Mountain by Vespaa & Naomi

Editor’s Note: Both Vespaa and Naomi had the chance to review Cursed Mountain by Deep Silver.  Since they’re different kinds of gamers, we wanted to give you the opinion from both of them.  Below, you’ll see comments on the game from Vespaa (in black) and Naomi (in blue).  Enjoy! Rating: M (PEGI: 16) Publisher: Deep Silver Genre: Survival Horror Players: 1 Release Date: August 25th , 2009 RENT Deep Silver brings back a genre of gaming seldom seen on the Wii (as well as being exclusive) with their survival horror title, Cursed Mountain. While the game reminded me a great deal of the Silent Hill series, I felt it fell short in capturing the terrifying atmosphere said games immerse the player in. That being said, Cursed Mountain provides players with it’s own unique brand of horror, built around a storyline involving ghosts in presented in a manner few games have
