Uber Entertainment Bringing Monday Night Combat to XBLA

Yeah, it’s not exactly like what I assume is its namesake — Monday Night Football — but I think it’ll do: Uber Entertainment is releasing a class-based third-person shooter sometime this year called Monday Night Combat. It’s a little difficult to describe, but maybe watching the trailer will help you figure out exactly what MNC is. So, you got that? Men in uniform, performing specific jobs in an arena-type area for fame and money, not to mention the cheerleaders… I take that back. Monday Night Combat is a lot more like football than I thought. It looks incredibly promising (“I could spend an entire month obsessed with this”-type promising), so as soon as we get a release date, we’ll let you know. Until then, check out Uber’s website at http://www.uberent.com.

Interview with Prince of Persia’s Jordan Mechner

If you haven’t heard of Prince of Persia, then where’s your rock and I’ll come visit you. It is only one of the most successful franchises in gaming history and has been around since the 1980′s. It has recently been put through the Hollywood movie-making machine with the likes of Jerry Bruckheimer and Jake Gyllenhaal to back it up. I was given the opportunity to sit in on a group web interview session with 3 other Aussie journalists: Richie Young (The Benny and Richie Show/Bigpond), Ben Slater (myMedia), and Max Everingham (Game State & freelance writer for Gadget Guy, Wolseley Media, Home Entertainment and IGN). The person whom we were interviewing? None other than Jordan Mechner, the Executive Producer and brains behind the Prince of Persia series! Richie Young (RY): Did you require the cast to play the game? You, know I think Jake Gyllenhaal played Prince of Persia games

P.B. Winterbottom Bakes His Way Onto Xbox Live Arcade Feb. 17

2K Play, a division of 2K, announced yesterday that its new game, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, will be available on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points starting on February 17, 2010. Winterbottom’s misadventures don’t really appear to be like much we’ve seen before. P.B. Winterbottom’s quest to devour every flaky, mouthwatering pie he encounters (he and I share very similar life goals!) is set in a silent film-esque landscape rife with humor. Eventually, Winterbottom encounters the mysterious Chronoberry Pie, which gives him the ability to replicate himself at will and bend the rules of time. Naturally, this adventure requires him to aid, abet, and compete with his past, present, and future self. For more information, visit http://www.winterbottomgame.com.

    Review – Spectrobes: Origins

For a while it was hard to imagine a game that could rival the likes of the Pokemon franchise – that was until Spectrobes came along. While my first attempt at playing Spectrobes on the DS didn’t impress me, the Wii version is a completely different story. So what is it all about? Rallen and Jeena, officers of the Nanairo Planetary Patrol, are Spectrobes Masters. They are similar to Pokemon Trainers in the sense that they find these creatures, take ownership of them, and use them in battle. This is pretty much where the similarity ends though. Rating: PG Players: 2 Genre: Action RPG Publisher: Disney Interactive Studios Release Date: 4th October 2009 (AUS) BUY When you start the game, Rallen and Jeena are sent out to keep an eye on a portal in the Nanairo solar system. There have been reports of Krawl appearing all over the place and
